@conorsen Will see how things go if they introduce no drive days and car free zones. 😅

There’s a bit of a “Two weeks to stop the spread” vibe when the admin talks about the pain of higher gas prices.

@HowEPhil @joshuawx_ It's a good time to do this now given decreased CDC staffing and CHOA moving to AMB in Brookhaven.

@joshuawx_ If it's above Armour infill that may be meaningful.

High speed rail backbone with competently designed city metro systems. Always sad to leave a country that actually invests in the people who live there.

@betterATL @HowEPhil Was it worth sacrificing the convince of thousands for the bikes of a few? Obviously not We need trains, not bike lanes This is tantamount to putting a bandaid on a bullet would that is Atlanta’s transit problem

@Kam7810 Dudes in here whining and offering nothing but more lanes. Meanwhile real cities build multimodal transit.

@conorsen @nw3 I was switching between the Olympics and the Superbowl. Felt amazing to be honest.

It’s still too hard to figure out when the key Olympics moments are going to be.

Armour Yards will probably not get a MARTA infill station and almost certainly not before 2035, but on the other hand the Beltline trail route from Lindbergh MARTA to the Beltline trail tunnel under I-85 will be so indirect it is very unlikely any MARTA users will make that walk.

From ⁦@saragregory⁩ The Clifton Corridor bus rapid transit project could take between 13 and 18 years to complete if a new Armour Yards MARTA station is chosen as the northern terminus ajc.com/news/2026/02/a…

@Urban_Connector A lot of MARTA's issues begin at the state level right? Funding, planning, execution.

@betterATL I'm biased but just build it out of Lindbergh, it's a great location and this would make it even better.

The future of transit in Atlanta is on a ventilator and the people who make decisions keep unplugging it to charge their phones.

@betterATL Moved from a home near East Lake station to a red/gold station. Much smoother overall but again there is so much room for improvement.

Seriously, how much time is saved by cutting the green line at king? It can’t be more than 10 minutes. Yay for 🔴🟡 line having full double coverage. It’d be nice if MARTA would do the same for the E/W core. the 20/min head way would be more bearable. 3 trains/hr is crazy

This slow speed is infuriating, not a reliable way to get to work on time, & frankly dangerously unstable. Regulation overkill

@ATLTransitLink Wild this project is being prioritized over transit expansion. Get BeltLine rail rolling. Campbellton BRT. North Ave BRT. Constituents taxed ourselves and projects are idling- yet somehow redoing a roof is moving forward. We didn’t want a new roof- we wanted new transit lines!!!

There's probably going to be some key item with relatively inelastic demand that we run out of that creates political pain well before the general lack of stuff on shelves leads to GDP-type problems.

Furthermore, any OTHER project that would use that money is YEARS away in terms of study time necessary. We could break ground on Streetcar East next year if we stopped stalling our own progress. Anyone pushing for anything else at this point is trying to prevent that progress.

@atlurbanist Picked up groceries daily on our trip back from the metro during our 2 week stay in New Taipei. Very normal thing to do for a large number of the population.

I love seeing people walk from Kroger with bags of groceries on the Eastside Beltline! Many Atlantans will happily get to destinations without a car if you give them safe, attractive infrastructure for doing it. It's only a "car city" when we fail to provide great alternatives.
