@scottiebateman Just back from Singapore on the double decker bus BA12 this morning. 13hr 40 was a long slog! I assume 4 pilots on your bus too? Love ✈️ but not the jet lag. Hope you have a good flight 🏡

I’ll be up early tomorrow morning to drive back home….starting my journey as you’re just going to bed in the U.K. 🤯… sadly we can’t fly this route and must go eastwards… making this trip a truly around the world adventure. Up over the Pacific, Alaska, Canada, then home. 15 ish hours of a trek to land back on Saturday afternoon. A new record for me. 🥺… exciting plans for the weekend any one ?

@greateranglia What’s even worse is that any train operator with an ounce of sense could have held the 19:20 from Wickford knowing that you had rerouted the Southminster train and there was clearly going to be no trains for another 90min.

@greateranglia Thank you but it’s been a shocking service tonight. We are 30 miles from Stratford and you have trains running empty to Southend at Wickford . You cannot justify having only a single train on the branch line this evening. We’re the poor relations on GA network but pay ££ 🥲

@jimmichsio Hi Michelle, apologies for this. This train has been cancelled because of a person being hit by a train earlier today. - Johnny

Risky Business In the early years of what became @Nomadic_OMD , I had been trying to acquire clients that had more than a few airplanes a year to ferry. I had heard about a B737-200 that departed and turned back to Oakland 3 times due to stiff headwinds and radio problems, in its attempt to ferry to Manila via a fuel stop in Honolulu. I was told that the company was desperate for a solution as the deal hinged on having it delivered by end of the week. I was able to get through to the CEO and told him that I could get his airplane to Manila by Sunday night. “What makes you think you can do what my guys haven’t done!” he aggressively said over the phone. “You hired two airline pilots getting paid by the day while on their days off. They have no incentive to push to make anything happen” I confidently said back to him. “Then go make it happen, but if you can’t get it there by Monday morning, I’m not paying!” It was a handshake deal over the phone. Included in the deal was that I would get all future ferry business if I delivered this airplane on time. As it turned out, I would have 24 hours to move the airplane from Oakland to Manila. Fuel stops at Honolulu, Majuro and Guam would be 18 hours of flying time and only an hour so to spare at each stop. It was going to be a tough 24 hours. I called on a trusted friend, a retired 737 Capt who had been battling cancer over the last few years. Bob appreciated every chance for a flying adventure as he knew there wouldn’t be many left. He was a genuinely great person and pilot. The day prior to the flight, dispatch informed me that the winds were too strong and we couldn’t land with enough fuel. I asked if we would have any left, and dispatch told me “maybe 20 minutes”. I called Bob who told me to take off any fuel burn bias, delete the alternate and the ETP’s. The result was landing with 1500 lbs of fuel, not enough for even the smallest miscalculation. We would be swimming if the wind forecast or fuel burn calculations were inaccurate in the slightest. Bob said “landing with 15 minutes is better than nothing, I think we can make it happen!” I wasn’t near as confident but knew I had to make this happen in order to take my company to the next level. It was a, in the words of 50 Cent: “Get rich or die trying” moment. I was unsure if I would live through this ferry, as I knew there was a possibility that I would run out of fuel before landing in Honolulu. It wouldn’t be the first time someone had risked it all and lost on this same route. Before I left home I grabbed a few pictures of my two young kids and wife to take along. I also put two little teeth that my daughter had lost that week in my pocket, hoping they would bring me the luck I needed, and if not, well, I would be holding them on the way down. We fueled until there was fuel pouring out of the fuel vents on the wings. We calculated the burns every 5 minutes. Halfway there and past the point of no return, it was looking bad. The winds had become worse than forecast and the ground speed stealing our fuel. We wouldn’t have enough to make it. Bob started messing with power settings, he had a way of making airplanes do things they were supposedly incapable of. He garnered another 10 minutes out of those Pratts! We stayed at 35,000 until about 30 miles from HNL, and then spiraled down to a landing with about 10 minutes of fuel left. I hugged Bob after that leg and he just laughed. I was very grateful to have had him around back then and still miss his positive and adventurous attitude. We kept on moving west bound, fighting midnight storms in Majuro and banging on doors to wake fuelers up in Guam. We got the airplane delivered within 24 hours, as I had promised. I got paid and it turned into a long relationship with that client. It’s one of many stories that helped make my mark and contributed to @Nomadic_OMD success in this crazy world of aircraft ferry!

My #FirstOfficer had never been to the #LuohuCommercialCity where you can find everything imaginable: #electronics, #scarves, #handbags, #jewelry, #toys, #fabrics, #watches, #eyeglasses, etc. Everything is negotiable. Acting skills are a must. Poker face is an added bonus. Today was a good day. For half the price of one pair of eyeglasses in the #USA, I walked away with a winter hat, a phone protector, and 3 pairs of eyeglasses. #pilotlife, #wepilotsarecheap #iloveshopping

That is probably the most sensible thing I’ve seen in a hotel in years. A filtered water tap in the bathroom to replace single use plastic water bottles. 👍🏻👏🏻 (Hotel Jen, Singapore)

Watching @BigJetTVLIVE some themes: - windshear systems, process, procedures and training - runway ‘choice’ (L or R) at LHR - crosswinds and landing technique - late landing and “land after” clearances I’m hanging about with not much to do if you have any questions?
