For 2 years I worked as a Primary PE CPD Mentor, I worked every week with teachers with the aim of upskilling, increasing knowledge & improving their confidence to deliver High Quality PE to Ofsted standard. Below is a doc on AFL. In the new year I aim to write a Primary PE book.

@FixingEducation Major disruption to a classroom or even sometimes the whole school if trashing halls or corridors get rewarded for having 1 good day which still doesn’t meet the standards of the ‘always children’ cause its usually a heavily compromised defining day of what is a ‘good day’ for

@FixingEducation Very true! From my experience, its the ones who are ‘always children’ always do the right thing, behave, try hard, that get ignored because they aren’t a behaviour concern, its just wrongly expected that they’ll always behave and get no reward for it whilst the ones that cause

Schools spend hours trying to “reach” the kid who openly doesn’t care, while the kid who tries every day quietly gets ignored. We’re exhausting ourselves chasing resistance instead of investing in effort.

@Coach_Temisan of others and getting some basic session planning practice and reflection. I can see it in the future probably going back to how it used to be.

@Coach_Temisan I don’t agree with the Level 1 now being online. It makes no sense that you can obtain a ‘coaching’ qualification without actually stepping foot on the grass… I know the old level 1 wasn’t anything difficult but I think its a good intro to getting people delivering in front 1/2

Increasingly, coaches are starting their UEFA A Licence with just two face-to-face courses (the UEFA C & UEFA B Licence). When I started, you had at least 6: - FA Level 1 - Youth Module Level 1 - FA Level 2 - Youth Module Level 2 - UEFA B Licence - Youth Module Level 3 Is this a concern for coaching nationally?

@TheS_Resource @JustcoachMD Interesting post. I often wonder why its seen as a negative in a lot of coaches eyes that a kid may be quiet or reserved. As you point out, they are possibly the most observant. I often think, so what if a child is quiet- how does that affect their ability on the ball 🤷‍♂️

“The quiet ones aren’t disengaged, they’re processing.” Every coach has seen them, he ones who nod more than they talk. Who blend into the background of sessions, steady, silent, unnoticed. ⛔ People mistake that silence for disinterest. ⚠️ They’re wrong. The quiet ones are learning differently, they’re observing, calculating and reading the room before they speak. While others fill the space with sound, they fill it with understanding. 🔊 Not every player grows through volume. 👀 Some grow through vision. And sometimes, when they finally do speak they say something that stops you in your tracks. They’ve been watching you. Your reactions. Your tone. Your fairness. They’ve been learning from everything you didn’t realise you were teaching. So next time a player seems distant, look closer. ➠ They’re not switched off. ➠ They’re switched on in a different way. Give them safety, and they’ll surprise you. Give them time, and they’ll transform. Because when quiet players feel heard, they often become the calmest leaders you’ll ever coach.

Unit 3 completed of the Level 3 Counselling Diploma. Due to finish towards the end of December. Hoping to then look into player care/safeguarding roles within sport clubs or pastoral/learning mentor roles within education. Using my experiences in both industries already.

@RJPcoach To get to a level where you can competently coach in an academy environment is to the level of an older age coach but then the amount of hours they want you to commit is for that of a uni student/recent graduate that has lots of time on their hands/no life responsibilities

@RJPcoach Good for you Rob. I’ve often said, the hours required to coach at a certain level (e.g. academy) is not suitable for coaches as they grow older and want/have other life commitments such as starting and having a family. The hours of experience/knowledge/badges it takes …

I think I've finally got my work-life balance pretty much perfect. I'm getting Wednesday and Friday matchdays, plus plenty of coaching, while having most evenings and weekends free, apart from some FA work and refereeing. I'm not out until late most evenings, and I'm not losing a whole day of my weekend to a matchday, but I'm still getting my coaching fix! Knowing me, that would change if the right opportunity presented itself, but for now I'm happy where I am!

@Jenksno1 @TheCoachesZone Good on you Mark. I never understand the criticism either. You don’t have to be a professional side to act professional. Especially if you and the club have aspirations to progress to higher levels.
