Big oil — and the vested interests it funds — want you to think net zero is unpopular. It isn’t. Good for your wallet. Protection from energy shocks. Good for the planet. The country is miles ahead of rightwing politicians on this. theguardian.com/environment/20…

In light of the cuts to Overseas Aid the Government would so well to remember there has always been big public support for increasing Overseas Aid (sound on!)

Spain's renewables build-out has structurally decoupled its electricity prices from gas markets. Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy. Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks.

Cutting international aid is a false economy – and one which puts Britain’s security at greater risk. The UK’s defence does not exist in isolation from global security. You cannot make Britain safer by making the rest of the world more unstable.

The very basics, the things we rely on to build the foundations of a good life, have been taken out of our hands, sold for profit - and then sold or rented back to us at crushing rates. The Green Party is there to inspire people with hope. And now, it's hope and a plan.

For over a year the UK govt has taken no serious action as the US and Israel flouted intl law with impunity. Despite it becoming increasingly clear our inaction has only emboldened the two nations, the govt still refuse to condemn the illegal US/Israeli strikes on Iran.

Latest in 'drill baby drill' news: University of Oxford says a UK powered entirely by clean energy…could save households up to £441 a year In contrast, maximising oil and gas extraction from North Sea would offer savings of just £16 to £82 independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…

Green policies have consistently been popular with the electorate - it was the belief that Greens couldn't win that held us back. No longer. This shows Green support can go even higher 👇
Luke Tryl@LukeTryl

There are a couple of warning signs for Labour too  - for a quarter of Labour 2024 voters the Greens inability to win is the top reason not to vote for them, more Gorton style results and a good set of local/Scottish and Welsh elections may dispel this and lead to more switching.

Roads closed and screens put up around RAF Fairford. Presumably to hide our involvement in a war Starmer claims were not involved in. share.google/4Y1C4peBNfjUF2…

@TheGreenParty Thank you for your support. This government is complicit in genocide — and we must bring about justice for the Palestinian people.

We held The Gaza Tribunal to expose the full scale of Britain's complicity in genocide. Our conclusion: the British government has been an active participant in one of the greatest crimes of our time. Read the full report below. thegazatribunal.uk/report

Absolutely astonishing. Labour has put out a direct mail to Lambeth residents, claiming that the Greens voted against the Renters' Rights Bill. That's... simply and demonstrably false? Every lie they tell degrades our politics and opens the door to Reform.

Yes, the figures are factually correct per sources. The £17.5bn breakdown + categories match adjusted OECD support measures data (from 2023 £26.7bn total, removing temp crisis aid + adding CCS; see Global Justice Now May 2025 report citing OECD). IMF explicit subsidies were £13.7bn (2022, undercharging supply costs only). Dec 2025 OECD inventory update puts UK total support ~$36bn (explicit measures). Definitions vary (OECD: budgetary/tax support; IMF adds implicit/env costs).

Hi Andrew, lovely to hear from you too. I just pointed to 17.5 billions worth of subsidies you say dont exist. Crucially, I provided references. I assume you can stand up your counter assertion that UK fossil fuels "get no subsidies"? Link here again to the IMF report listing UK fossil fuel subsidies: imf.org/-/media/files/…
Andrew Neil@afneil

Usual bollocks from Big Green which now just makes things up. Fossil fuels in UK are taxed to the hilt, unlike renewables, and get no subsidies, unlike renewables. They get usual tax credits for investment, like all corporate investment. But UK government doesn’t want their investment, so they don’t invest in UK.

@afneil UK fossil fuels are subsidised to the tune of $36bn a year according to the OECD. Didn't we chat about this on the Daily Politics during that phase when you were obsessed with 'windmills' (wind turbines)?
