@Lou_Gooner77 @MillllllSE16 @irishkazza @TravelodgeUK Actually it’s HAVE. A good life lesson for this lad and his friend to double and triple check before booking, and consider if a flexible rate is actually worth the extra money.

I seriously need some help here. My neighbor just put up this massive metal fence right along our property line and I’m honestly pretty upset about it. It completely changed the whole feel of my driveway and now it looks like I’m pulling into some kind of industrial corridor. I had no idea this was even happening until the thing was already built. It feels like my space just got boxed in overnight. What on earth can I do in a situation like this???

@MattBloomFilms @marksandspencer Whoever bought it would have had a paper receipt with this information on that they should have passed onto your Dad. Get cross with them, not M&S!

So @marksandspencer won't honour my elderly dad's expired gift card - even though they don't put an expiry date on the card 🙄 and their gift card query phone line cost us £1 a minute 🙄🙄. Customer service petty and unhelpful. So won't ever shop there again.

To save myself a fine and three points I just completed a driving safety course. One of the other attendees couldn’t speak English. His son, supposedly his interpreter, answered all of the questions. The course was three hours and driven by discussion and verbal guidance. How?

@smogski74 @elliehodges62 How ridiculous! If you buy a discounted ticket, you need to show the proof of how you qualify for it. It’s that simple!

@elliehodges62 Invest in a camera ie what the police wear, you can then state your using it for your personal protection. And you will use it as evidence if you need to. Get one, because they might target you. They are bullying the public, you have evidence it will stop. Be safe

Just got stopped and practically interrogated at Liverpool Street over my ticket. Showed it straight away, but was questioned for 10 minutes because my railcard photo wouldn’t load (no WiFi). She refused to give my ticket back and said she’d “let me off this time.” I HAD A VALID TICKET. This sums up what’s wrong with this country - the people doing things right get hassled, while those who don’t bother just walk through untouched.

@GDx1x @RupertLowe10 Have you considered home education? It sounds as if you’re not happy with what the state schools offer.

@RupertLowe10 They don't even teach them life skills, they just fill the school day with useless information. Think back to what you gained from being in school apart from English and Maths (even a lot of that was useless) money management, growing your own food, how to handle bills? No....

Parents should have the right to take their children out of school during term-time for a limited number of days. Childhood is short. Parents should not need permission from the state to raise their own children. My contribution in Parliament today...

@BJones81533 @goshebang @CockertonMark So the LA school employs taxi drivers rather than parents acting as chauffeurs. All kids need to eat, so they buy food and employ cooks, and of course there’s the teachers, ancillary staff, caretaker etc.

@jop1976 @goshebang @CockertonMark Slight difference between a school charging £6,000 a term and a Muslim one charging the same per year. A school with rich parents is financially beneficial to the local community but LA SEND schools often have children taxied in.

It’s sad to see low paid working people, many with families, campaigning for VAT exemption on public school fees and to exempt millionaire farmers from inheritance tax, knowing that the costs of doing so will fall on them. Imagine prioritising millionaires over your own kids.

@pinkhedgehog81 Well my Aunt, who is his carer, doesn’t seem to have a meltdown about crossing a road with him. But pushing him up a hill and across two roads from the nearest wider road is probably a bit of an ask tbh.

@BJones81533 @goshebang @CockertonMark Buy aren’t they all employing people, buying provisions (food for lunches, classroom equipment, cleaning equipment etc)? Does it matter if it’s a Muslim school for girls, or LA funded - they’ll still be spending.

@goshebang @CockertonMark Mainstream private schools with the rich parents are closing down and specialist schools are opening up instead. A new Muslim girls school with fees of £6000 a year won’t be of great value to suppliers. New SEND schools are funded by LA for EHCP pupils .

My friend, Mary, in the UK has been trying to get a doctor’s appointment for weeks. She was told to call at 9am, as soon as the surgery opens. She called at 9am. It was engaged. She continued to call until it rang, someone picked up and she was put on hold. Eventually she spoke with someone who asked if it is an “emergency”. She is elderly and to her nothing is an “emergency” unless she cannot breathe! So she was offered an appointment in just over two weeks’ time. On the day of the appointment, Mary arrived, only to find out that a “personal issue” had taken the doctor away that day. Whilst waiting to be offered another appointment, she overheard the receptionists discussing her doctor’s trip to Cyprus with his kids for half term. Surely they knew about this trip two weeks ago!! Maybe they are hoping that she will pop her clogs before they need to actually see her. I contrast this with my experience in France. I need a non-urgent appointment. I can see pretty much any specialist or my GP and can get an appointment within a day or two, often the same day.

Posts from the NHS. Lovely care assistant with English as a second language is trying to converse with an elderly, very confused, patient. The language barrier misses so many little, but important, details. The patient is describing where to find her granola, obviously doesn’t know she’s in hospital, the care assistant hears banana and is explaining the choices again. This is one of many exchanges where neither understands the other or knows that they are both misunderstanding each other. Like I said, the care assistant is lovely. Very caring but it’s a challenge not to feel like the care is automatically less good than it should be.
