It's time I shared one of my favourite keyword & link research tactics. I genuinely do this every month. Skip to 2m 33s for the details 🤝 (I would love for you to watch the whole thing, but giving a timestamp is only fair). If you've never seen the Ahrefs MCP server in action, I've also included some other use cases you'll hopefully find valuable. Outside of private training I'm not usually one for sharing videos, so please let me know if you find this useful. I'll happily do more :) Thank you!

@mattdiggityseo The links thing may just be that the LLMs are still quite simplistic; when the crawled text contains links it 'confuses' them and a fail safe kicks in where they use a higher confidence blurb. Action is the same: avoid links in your main FAQs (prob already good practice).

Nearly 2 million sessions analyzed. The data is clear on what gets cited by ChatGPT. According to a study published on Search Engine Land, researchers audited 15 domains across multiple industries to identify what makes content quotable to LLMs. The findings flip traditional SEO wisdom on its head: “Answer capsules” drive 72.4% of all ChatGPT citations These are concise, self-contained explanations (120-150 characters) placed directly after H2 question headings. But here's the twist that surprised me: 91% of cited answer capsules contain ZERO links Internal links? They hurt your citation chances. External links? Same problem. The research shows LLMs prefer clean, standalone blocks of text without hyperlinks. Links signal the answer lives elsewhere. Original data amplifies citations even further. 34.3% of cited posts combined answer capsules with proprietary insights or original data. This could be: - Survey results - Performance benchmarks - Proprietary metrics - Branded recommendations What this means for your content strategy: Stop stuffing answer sections with links. Place them in supporting paragraphs instead. Add answer capsules to your top-performing posts targeting question-based queries. Inject original data wherever possible (even a single branded stat can make the difference).

The Detailed SEO Extension just passed 500,000 weekly users 🎉 I don't get to share milestones too often, so Thank You! to everyone who has used and shared it over the years. Ahrefs developers have been making some improvements under the hood, ready for some new features (without taking anything away). And I'm still very involved in what's coming next. I know it's "just" a browser extension, but I genuinely love seeing its icon in random screenshots around the web, and it still feels a bit surreal it became so popular. Thanks again! 🙏

Surfer Acquired: A New Chapter I first discovered Surfer in 2019 on a friend’s laptop. One glance at the software and I had to try it. When I later met the small five-person team, their talent and passion made it clear I had to invest. Six years later, after plenty of blood, sweat, and tears, Surfer has evolved into a world-class product with thousands of happy customers and a strong foothold in the AI SEO space. I’m incredibly proud of what this now-large team has built, and even more excited about what they’ll do next. The new parent company, Positive, together with a core of original founders, are setting out to become the complete toolkit for AI-powered search, email marketing automation, and more. Grateful to have been part of this ride and I’ll always look back on my time with Surfer fondly. Also, I’m hugely grateful for those of you who took my word for it and gave Surfer a shot. To this day, if it didn’t exist, I’d probably quit doing SEO.

@lilyraynyc Everyone prefers their safe little bubbles and echo chambers. Everyone. Is why blocking is bad. As is back-biting and piling on. Better to seek out discomfort and dissenting views. Everyone.

@OArbitrageur Also re WP I'm a bit biased. Built a plugin, now in soft launch. Makes it super easy to do more with the clicks we still do get.. More engagement, More conversions. More traffic too if building link or lead magnets. Would welcome any feedback: aiapponsite.com 🙏

@OArbitrageur Having very similar experiences recently. There are ALWAYS opportunities, especially when things look bleak. As is said.. zig when others zag.. Be greedy when others are fearful. Re WordPress, it always happens when I take a break from building. Still, it's my CMS of choice.👍

It's been a LONG time since I last set up a Wordpress site. Pretty much forgot how to do a couple of things 😂 I've got renewed optimism in a couple of strategies recently, and I never thought I would say this again, but one of those strategies is for Google search 🚀🚀

@phuclh93 Love seeing you still pushing and building @phuclh93 !! 🔥 Curious.. do you think well structured clusters have any impact on brand presence and visibility in LLMs (other than the knock-on benefit of ranking high in search)?

Also be careful that AI Overviews don’t show a random affiliate’s promo code for the “jenni discount code” query giving them commission without actually driving the traffic Growing problem recently as the AI Overviews scan a random review, find the code and show it for everyone without the affiliate actually doing anything. So it ends up being basically an accidental brand bidding style situation

8.7% of startups have an interesting technical SEO issue. I looked at 1,000 brands to see how they handle the www and non-www variations of their websites. They've all raised millions and / or shared respectable revenue numbers in the past 12 months. I was inspired to do this research by @iPullRank, who noted the non-www version of the Delta Air Lines website doesn't load (with a cameo from @RyanJones saying the same about Kroger). The ideal implementation is that only one variation loads, and other variations would redirect using a Permanent Redirect. Here are the specific results: - 913 startups had the expected implementation - 46 have identical sites on the non-www and www version of their domain - 22 use 302 (temporary) redirects to go from one variation to another - 19 brands have a variation which simply does not load at all There are differing levels of concern here, but if people are visiting and linking to a variation of your domain which doesn't load, it's fair to assume it could be costing you visitors. I didn't count how many have redirect chains - there were quite a few - as I view that as less of a concern. I also didn't count 302 redirects which were used to go to a language-specific area of a site. In all honesty, Google is probably smart enough to handle most implementations. It also depends if people are typing https in manually or not (at least in the current version of Chrome). That said, it's still something worth checking your own implementation of. (Ironically I found this issue on one of my own sites I didn't set-up in my usual manner while writing this post). You can use a tool like httpstatus . io to check different variations of your set-up and how they redirect. P.S. I just did this to satisfy my own curiosity but checked the results multiple times (and in multiple ways). There may be the case that a website wants different things on the www and non-www variation, but I didn't see that come up.

We're getting rid of the D [in PTSD]. PTS is an injury; it's not a disorder. The problem is, when you call it a disorder, [veterans] don't think they can be treated. An employer says, “I don't want to hire somebody with a disorder.” ~George W. Bush
