Canada Post’s union is nuts. With the corporation already bleeding hundreds of millions, the strike is causing small business - one of the last reliable customers - to make permanent changes towards alternatives for mail based payments, shipping and marketing. Many of these customers will never return, preventing Canada Post from meeting any of the union’s demands. My read is that the union is acting only for those at or near retirement age (already a huge group) with zero thought to the future for newer employees. Whatever the stripe of the next govt may be, it will need to cut Canada Post back to the bone in order to have any hope of salvaging the mandate of even basic services for all Canadians. This is a disaster.

DOGE will soon begin crowdsourcing examples of government waste, fraud, & and abuse. Americans voted for drastic government reform & they deserve to be part of fixing it.
Dillon Loomis@DillonLoomis

Here are some of the most insane statistics about the waste and inefficiency of the US government and why Elon and Vivek's new DOGE is such an incredible and crucial development for America: • The CBO revealed at least 1,264 federal programs and bureaus have expired authorizations, but they still received $516B in funding for FY2024 • The Government Accountability Office estimates the federal government wastes $247B in taxpayer money each year • The Department of the Treasury reported $24.5B in "unreconciled transactions" in the past meaning it spent ~$25B on unknown items • Department of Agriculture employees misused government issued credit cards spending millions on personal purchases like concert tickets, tattoos, lingerie and car payments • $33.2M was spent on transgender monkey research • The NIH spent part of a $2.7M grant to study Russian cats walking on a treadmill • The DoD ruined $170M of military equipment by leaving it outside • The US Agency for International Development spent $6M to promote tourism in Egypt • The SBA gave over $200M to music artists like Post Malone, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne through the Covid Paycheck Protection Program • The US military bought soap dispensers for aircraft at over 80 times the commercial price The importance of the Department of Government Efficiency cannot be overstated

America is lucky it’s not in a civil war right now, yet we are in a kind of cold civil war. What is this experiment we call America? Let us look back and remember who we are, and how our greatest leaders—like Abraham Lincoln—comported themselves in the face of civil war. We must realign ourselves with the founding spirit of our nation. Are we ready to reach across the divide? I am, and that is what my campaign is about.

This is Robert F Kennedys Jr’s VP. Even though she has never served political office, she understands foreign affairs more than anyone who has. If we pass up these candidates this year, our country will regret it for a very long time. Bobby and Nicole are here to serve the people, not the corporations.

Prime Minister Netanyahu was scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris today. Instead of attending the meeting with the head of a nation in the midst of an existential war, which the United States has supported as an ally, our nation’s current leaders chose to make a dangerous and reckless political move by refusing to meet. This political stunt aims to win over a voting bloc, but it lacks integrity and actually perpetuates instability. A real leader would meet with Netanyahu to negotiate peace in the region. Even if you disagree with the recent actions of Israel, your job is to offer alternatives to war and chart a path towards refocusing American resources on the American people. The sudden cold treatment towards Israel is disingenuous and signals incompetence. A good leader in this moment would make the following moves: ➡️ Acknowledge that Netanyahu doesn’t have the support of his own nation and suggest empowering the people of Israel with an election to appoint a leader they have faith in to resolve the current conflict. Many Israeli political advisors have suggested that this would signal, both internally and internationally, a redirection for the country and the war. ➡️Acknowledge that the United States’ military participation in the region has not led towards a sustaining peace. ➡️Work with nations that have a real chance of rebuilding Gaza and Palestine, striving for a convincing two-state solution. ➡️Recognize the desire of BRICS nations and especially the Gulf Nations to see peace in the region and empower this leadership, through solid foreign policy, to step forward to assist in stabilization and rebuilding. Last week, the UAE signaled a historic commitment to contributing to stabilization in Gaza. Let’s remember that the UAE built a world class city in a seaside desert and is uniquely situated to rebuild Gaza, more so than the United States. Remember also that, in the aftermath of October 7th, the UAE showed incredible leadership, even erecting a Hanukiah during Hanukkah last year as a symbol of peaceful coexistence. The Gulf nations of the Emirates and Saudi Arabia are both motivated and uniquely resourced to partner in building a sustainable, peaceful, and prosperous Palestine for the Palestinian people. Finally, remember that Saudi Arabia was engaged in normalization talks with Israel leading up to October 7th. Such a relationship is incredibly valuable for peace in the region without necessitating a military alliance. Culturally and economically, the UAE and Saudi Arabia could serve as a bridge for peace and prosperity for the Palestinian people. Their influence would be real and authentic, culturally aligned, and best positioned for long-term success and stability. For those sects calling for the destruction of Israel, the message must be clear: this is wrong. We understand your hurt, anger and frustration, and we take responsibility for our part in it, but war, death and destruction are not your calling. Your calling is independence from the influences of the Western World, healthy and respectful boundaries, engagement in international trade, and participation in the coming balance between the Western Nations and BRICS. This envisages world powers working together, balanced and creatively positioned to move the world forward into a future of innovation, abundance, opportunity, and peace.

Timeline of Events Sunday •Joe Biden drops out. •Kamala Harris announces campaign with Biden endorsement. •Kamala Harris says she is going to work hard to earn the nomination. •Kamala Harris makes calls to party delegates. Monday •Kamala Harris continues making calls to party delegates. •Kamala Harris makes two public speeches. •AP announces Kamala Harris has secured enough delegates to be the Democratic Nominee (Monday night). •Kamala Harris releases this statement, noting she has worked hard to “go out and earn this nomination” as promised (Monday night). A 24-hour process of talking to party bosses is not democratic, nor is it a process Democrats should be proud of. We do not live in a dictatorship. Delegates are not oligarchs. Installing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and an unknown vice president without any public voting process would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites. We call on the @DNC to create a process that allows for public participation in the nomination process, not just a nomination by party delegates.

#BREAKING In a world where online platforms have become critical for the distribution and consumption of news, the Canadian government has made a perplexing move. The recently passed Bill C-18, also known as the Online News Act, requires Google to pay for merely displaying links to news content. Google's response? They've announced they will remove links to Canadian news from their Search, News, and Discover products once the law takes effect. Why does this matter? Well, first, let's examine the nature of the internet and the way we consume news. Online platforms like Google have democratized access to information, breaking down barriers and providing a global platform for news publishers to reach audiences they never could before. By requiring payment for links, Bill C-18 undermines this fundamental principle. The Canadian government, led by Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez, seems to have overlooked the fact that these links, which they now want to tax, serve as gateways to the news sites themselves. Google, or any other search engine for that matter, does not host the news; it simply points users in the right direction. Now, if those directions are removed, how are users supposed to find their way? What's more, the notion of a "link tax" exposes Google to uncapped financial liability. This isn't just a business concern; it's a dangerous precedent. If governments can impose fees on the facilitation of information access, what's to stop them from extending this principle to other areas? Rodriguez and the Liberal government claim that this bill is meant to support Canadian journalism. However, what we see is a government caving into the pressures of the news lobby, rather than considering the wider implications for its citizens. In this digital age, Canadian users have become accustomed to the ease of finding news through platforms like Google. Removing that capability does not support journalism; it creates barriers. We need to question the competency of a government that views the throttling of information access as a win for its people. Sure, the news industry has faced challenges with the rise of digital media, but the answer is not to cling to outdated models and penalize innovation. Rather, it's to adapt and evolve. Bill C-18 is not just a misstep; it's a step backward. Instead of fostering a more connected Canada, this legislation risks leaving Canadians in the dark. That's a loss for everyone. The government needs to reconsider its approach, for the sake of its citizens and the future of news consumption in Canada. #cdnpoli blog.google/intl/en-ca/com…
