𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 - 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀. By far the worst year of my life in every way. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 - 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁.  God was remarkably faithful. The year was one of tremendous personal growth - spiritual, family, friends, fitness, vocation. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 - 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀. I'm remarkably excited about 2024. Big things on all fronts - spiritual, family, friends, fitness, vocation. In fact, I suspect it will be one of the "biggest" years I have had in the last decade of my life. I picked relentless for my word this year. My wife had it inscribed on the inside of my wedding ring when we got married 14 years ago. Its a word I resonate with deeply and has served me well over the last ten years of my life. Putting all the chips on the table this year. All in. lots of middle-aged men who think big pants make you look old bc that's what old people wore, so they switched to slim fit pants in the early 2000s, not realizing that slim fit pants makes you look old in 2026 bc they are now the out-of-touch old person in 20 yr old fashion

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink now admits that transitioning to solar and wind will cause a global power shortage, after he spent years pressuring companies to do exactly that. This transition has sabotaged our power supply and raised our electricity bills.

Almost had me in tears: "Results showed that paternal warmth and home learning stimulation positively predicted cognitive and social emotional skills." We don't need more urban school funding, we need more loving fathers excited about reading. That's how test scores rise!!!

Dear X followers, this is an open letter to acknowledge that I realize I have woefully neglected you and given all my attention to the dark empire of Instagram. In 2025 I am going to make a comeback! That’s right, true to my writings I am not making a resolution, but a new habit to post here daily. If the algorithm condescends to get you this pitiful tweet, would you let me know in the comments what you would like to hear more about. Technology habits? Parenting habits? Spiritual disciplines? Quotes from readings? Food pics? Lousy GIFs? The world is your oyster…

@thisisfoster Wow. What a wild statement. Piper has and will continue to have as much impact on Christian men than anyone. What a strange take.

Boomer Christianity is dead. They lost the young men, failed to raise up successors, and consequently became disconnected to where things actually are. They’re completely clueless on how to wisely deal with this moment.

Presidential election results. Having delivered us from one evil, God now tests us with another. “The Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 13:3

@drgurner I should have asked a more clear question. Was trying to identify why you feel that way about Christianity. I'm in the South - so my perspective is limited. But where I am from Christians do every bit of what you listed and then some.

@kadewilcox I am talking about how Christianity is currently represented across society. If you want to put a party on that, that's your take, not mine.

Call me "old school," but I believe in that version of Christianity where you stand by those in need. The disabled, the poor, the sick, the disenfranchised. This new version isn't something I recognize.

Here's a thought experiment I'd love help with... I'm almost 42. I want to set 3-5 ambitious fitness goals to work towards when I'm 50 that would require I'm lean and well-rounded. Currently, I have 1) a sub-20 minute 5K and 2) 20+ pullups. What else?

I knew this post might raise some eyebrows...this is Twitter! Skepticism. Even criticism. “Must be a cult.” “You’re part of a commune!” etc. Not pretty things to hear… so I thought long and hard. See, over the past couple years since starting to write on here, a number of friends from X have visited me and my community. And every time I see their jaws drop with amazement at the life I too often take for granted, I think, “wow—maybe I should be more public about this.” After all, this is my dream. And I get to live it. Aristotle once said: “To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.” So, I made the post. BUT, I made it clear… This kind of community demands a level of commitment and personal investment that many find challenging. As I said, it’s not for everyone (or even most). I meant that. When there’s a disagreement with someone, you don’t just walk away. You face it head-on and work through it together. It is this shared commitment that has allowed relationships to truly thrive here for generations. So back to the raised eyebrows… I get it. Trust me—we’re no strangers to misunderstanding. This kind of community/church model raises red flags for some folks. There just aren’t that many examples like it historically (though there are some ~similar ones: think Amish, Mennonite, etc), and enough negative ones that *appear* to be similar to cause plenty of alarm. “But why does it have to have God in it,” you ask? Fair question. Hear me out, though. I believe that, in order to find true unity with other people (which is our goal), you have to solve the human nature problem somehow. Humans are created with limitless potential. But, we have a baser nature, too. At the end of the day we tend to be self-centered. Just a natural instinct. For us (and many other Christians), God is the solution to that problem. When people—with divine help—voluntarily lay down their individual egos, they can finally find peace and unity with each other. Note: I’m *not* talking about uniformity… Uniformity is the result of external force, and nothing about the God I believe in (or the faith we practice) is coercive. By definition, love is non-coercive. The unity I’m talking about is the result of voluntary, self-giving love, empowered by the God who declared Himself to be love. This is why faith in God is so important to our model of community. Without it, in a context this close-knit, the potential conflicts of everyday life would inevitably devolve into my ego vs yours. And the whole thing would fly apart. So… It’s ok…you can breath:) This isn’t a cult. Or a commune. It’s a group of friends who choose a shared way of life and shared set of beliefs to guide their lives. Now let me address the most common negative assumptions and accusations: - Private Property / Personal Responsibility: Core pillars of our community (no common purse). - Welcoming Outsiders: We’re not isolated by any stretch (several hundred thousand/year visit Texas location alone) - Leadership: Plural, decentralized, and member-confirmed. - Voluntary Membership: Free to join and leave; no coercion to be here or stay (in fact, harder to join than to leave). Most who join don’t leave. Why would they if it is what I’m describing it as? But some do, many of which remain friendly towards us. Two of my siblings decided to leave. One explored for a few years, then returned, realizing this is what he wanted after all. He was welcome of course. The other is on a different path, and we maintain mutual respect, friendship, and love. Of the small percentage that leave us and are not friendly, a few harbor grudges for various personal reasons. Some even seemingly make it their life’s mission to try to tarnish our reputation and destroy us. (I sort of understand: they’ve lost something valuable, and that must hurt.) But it’s their decision to do whatever they want with their life and I fully respect it. We all make our own. Look, I’ve been here all my life, and know this place inside out. I’ve also travelled quite a bit, and seen plenty of other cultures, models, etc. I’m fairly ambitious, and absolutely wrestled with the decision of what to do with my life. Even though I grew up this way, I never just assumed I'd stay here. (And yes, I can think for myself). All that to say, I *carefully* weighed my options. But when it all boiled down, the decision was obvious. And I’ve never regretted it for a second. Why run away from what I truly consider to be the finest example of a family, parents, childhood, eduction, and friends one could dream of? Of course no one’s perfect (neither here nor anywhere else) but I feel pretty certain I couldn’t have picked a better place to be born and raised. Choosing this way of life—as “old-fashioned” and against-the-grain as it admittedly is—was for me the best decision ever. I am what I am today because of it. And that’s why I choose to share it publicly. But don’t just take my word for it…please. I encourage anyone intrigued to come visit us here in Texas or any of the other 12 locations. Talk to people. Ask questions. And draw your own conclusions. There’s a growing yearning for stronger local communities, whether revitalized small towns, better neighborhoods, secular- and faith-based groups, or an agrarian, Christian one like our own. Sorry to say, but politics just isn’t going to solve depression, loneliness, divorce, addiction, etc… I firmly believe this return to stronger, intentional communities is a critical part of the solution to our biggest societal problems. I said it in my post—we can change the world!! And I’d like to believe that what we’re pioneering has a small part to play in this. So, to all those who take cheap shots and call this a cult: relax, you’re barking up the wrong tree (seriously…I’m not that crazy😂). Happy to answer questions and address any criticism, so long as it’s done respectfully. And to all those who’ve supported: THANK YOU!! Your encouragement is felt and appreciated! (For anyone who missed the original thread, you can read it here👇)

There’s too much loneliness, disconnection, and digital overload in the world today. It’s time for a true alternative: A simple, healthy, sustainable way of life that breaks free from the grip of radical individualism. I've been keeping a secret for 2 years. Here we go...
