How is Zimbabwe Airways? You seem to have a million problems with Kenyans? Growing your activism career and Kenya is a great market?
Hopewell Chin’ono@daddyhope

I think everyone has a story to tell about Kenya Airways. I stopped flying them after a round trip from Harare to Nairobi to New York, and then a local flight to Boston. On my return, I flew from Boston to New York’s JFK Airport, and when I got there to catch my Kenya Airways flight, my name was not on the system, although I had been given a boarding card in Boston. They told me I was not booked to fly that day. I insisted that I was booked and that the flight was about to depart, and that it would be extremely unprofessional for them to handle a passenger like that. They were not even bothered. The flight left without me. They then wanted to put me on another flight, not Kenya Airways but KLM, and downgrade me to economy class. I refused. I had a business class ticket and I was not going to accept a downgrade. Eventually, they rebooked me on a KLM flight from New York to Amsterdam, then Amsterdam to Nairobi, and finally Nairobi to Harare. I spent almost two days travelling because of Kenya Airways. From that moment, I said never again will I fly them, unless there is absolutely no other option. Even when I am invited to speak at conferences and they say I will be flying Kenya Airways, I make it clear that I will not. The problem is not just the mistake, it is the attitude. They are often rude and do not apologise when things go wrong. That is what makes it worse. I hope one day they will change and become a decent airline. We want to support African airlines, but there is a limit. African businesses must learn to treat clients, especially Africans, with respect and dignity. At the moment, it is difficult to point to an African airline that is consistently reliable. Even Ethiopian Airlines, which I often consider our flagship carrier, has its issues, but it does stand out for its extensive network and relative consistency, and it is nowhere near the level of Kenya Airways. The incompetence is on another level.

@NDIMBO_KE @iamkathambi True! Plus KQ plus KQ misses out on more revenues on that sector alone. ET does like 2 or 3 flight a day! The load is always 100%.

We all say we’ll never fly KQ until we’re flying around Africa. Then you’re staring at a 6 hour direct flight on KQ vs a 14 hour flight on ET with transit in Bole…and you just crawl back to KQ 😂 Connecting Africa is KQ’s super power but they can’t seem to get it right!

FACT IS ,UHURU'S TEN YEARS OF "mnataka nifanye nini jameni" DESTROYED our EDUCATION but you're not ready for that conversation. But don't worry, President Ruto is CORRECTING that mess. The debate on school capitation should be placed in proper context. I've seen bloggers who were aligned to UHURU'S government trying to exonerate Uhuru yet and blame Ruto yet it's Uhuru who put us in this mess. Kenyans must remember that the challenges facing schools today did not begin with Ruto’s presidency-they were far worse under the Uhuru's administration. During President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure, delayed capitation was a routine, leaving many schools struggling to operate. Principals frequently complained of late disbursements, unpaid suppliers, and learners being sent home over unpaid fees. At one point, strikes and disruptions became common because institutions could not plan effectively. Today, we see timely release of funds, better learning environments, classroom expansion, teacher recruitment, and more predictable planning. While challenges still exist, the direction is more structured and focused on long-term solutions. Kenyans know where the sector has come from, and they can clearly see the progress being made compared to the disorder of past years. Give Ruto a break jameni!

During that doomed Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisumu, @CaroliOmondi claimed that Mbadi, Wandayi, Oluga and Omollo are in office but not ‘in power’. This may very well be true. The last time Caroli was ‘in power’ was during Grand Coalition Government when he miraculously became the Chief of Staff of PM’s Office. Each prime news time we used to watch PM Raila Odinga complaining about humiliation by government officials who were disregarding his directives, or those who were perenially unavailable in his public meetings. One day we watched Raila complain bitterly of lack of toilets and even the red carpet. What power were people like Caroli having during Grand Coalition? What power did James Orengo, the then full minister of lands, have? How did he help Luos with that power? The absence of bickering, grandstanding, backstabbing and endless ‘I was not consulted’ protests which used to come from OPM were not cries by people who were ‘in power’. Those were people ‘in office’ too. Caroli sat in OPM for five years with no power. It is no wonder the deep state still rigged them out in 2013, with nothing to do about it. Political power ok ohero koko gi keko. Even if the current Luo top government officials do not have power, at least they don’t whine like the OPM people used to. Caroli has no range to lecture Mbadi, Wandayi, Omollo, or even Oluga. He served in a regime where Luo govt officials were powerless and whining 24/7. The Luos in the Ruto regime have power. Raw power. It is the reason Caroli and the whole entire Linda Mwananchi group have been RETAINED by Uhuru and bitter OATHISTS to remove Ruto and his WAnjaruos out of power.

@themayor_ke Ruth stood by her late brother in the ODM Party. She stood by his Secretary General when they were in her County a few days ago. Nothing wrong with that. Her statement after her brother passed on is still in the public domain. She's being quite neutral, like her Governor.

The Raila family is playing a game, sijui kama mnaona. First, Mama Ida supported and defended Sifuna but immediately she was offered a job, alikumbuka she is not a politician. Not supporting Ruto, not supporting Sifuna. Winnie had started attacking Oburu and Linda Tumbos, but after the Ida appointment and whispers of ODM deputy party leader, she has gone completely lowkey. Ruth on the other hand tried planting herself in the ODM Central Committee, got edged out by Oburu’s son, and now she’s suddenly aligned with Linda Mwananchi. Oburu naye you can excuse. At this point he looks like a man attending a meeting he didn’t call, doesn’t understand, and doesn’t even care to influence. Are you seeing the pattern here?

Will not happen anytime soon in Kenya especially Nairobi, a city designed to accomodate mediocre thinking in high leadership. Also, a city with a permanent class in love with filth, chaos and disorder. You try clean the river, nobody wants to exit riparian areas. You try improve the market, filth lovers oppose…they call rallies to oppose. You try manage traffic properly, an entire oil industry cartel depends on traffic snarl-ups for higher fuel sales…
