🎉 BIG NEWS: TRIEVE IS JOINING MINTLIFY 🎉
Denzell and I are officially joining the @mintlify team after they acquired Trieve!
This one feels right. When we started Trieve in 2023, we were just two devs frustrated with building search for our legal tech product. Every retrieval solution we tried didn’t work for what we needed - either too basic or required multiple years of experience to configure properly.
So we built our own. Fast forward to today: 150M+ search queries served, 2.6M AI conversations, 5,500+ active users, and hundreds of paying customers. We literally went from "this doesn't exist" to processing millions of requests daily.
Mintlify was one of our earliest adopters and honestly set the bar for what search should look like in documentation. Their search experience, powered by our tech, became the gold standard we'd point to.
Their vision of empowering builders is exactly what we've been doing, just at a bigger scale. Instead of grinding SEO and enterprise sales (not our game), we get to focus on what we're actually good at: being deeply technical and shipping fast.
For existing users: don't panic. Trieve Cloud runs until November 1st, 2025. We'll help everyone migrate whether that's to self-hosted or other platforms. All your data stays exportable via API, same SLA, same support quality.
The really cool part? We're moving from BSL to MIT license. Fully open source now. The code lives forever at github . com/devflowinc/trieve and we'll keep maintaining it. No rug pulls, no sudden license changes, no vendor lock-in nonsense.
From day one, we designed Trieve to work without relying on third-party services. That wasn't an accident - we wanted to build something that would survive regardless of what happened to the company behind it.
Mission accomplished.
Now we get to take everything we learned about developer-focused search and AI retrieval and apply it to Mintlify's massive developer audience. Honestly excited about this next chapter.
If you have questions, hit us up on Discord or send a DM. And if you want to join us, Mintlify is hiring!
Thanks for all the searches! 🚀

A few days using Cursor again
I realize it's much faster for me to just
CMD+TAB to Jan app (with Claude) or ChatGPT and copy paste the code
Than to
CMD+L and type the question in Cursor itself?
Also the side AI chat tab in Cursor is so cramped in space, maybe it should just be a floating window?

Trying @cursor_ai again for second time because everyone's talking about it (again) To make the switch easy I've copied the icon from VSCode and set it as Cursor's icon and renamed it to VSCode in my /Applications/ folder So now when I go CMD+ENTER = VS... it actually opens Cursor

@kagnar_ They are inscrutable, although better than they once were
I somewhat suspect it’s this way by design

If you don’t have a good grasp of how an LLM actually works (like me). Whatch this video!

Very interesting work by @OpenAI on interpreting the inner workings of Transformers 👏

What if you use these sales to fund your development 🤯🤯🤯

People sitting on and holding great .ai domains names are so lame (including people trying to sell them for $30k). Let them be free. Let developers build.

I got married last month, and spent the furthest time away from work during that period and the honeymoon
Unplugging while we broke ATHs really helped me reflect on what I’ve learned up until this milestone and what’s important to me in life
I wanted to share this publicly mostly to document my thoughts. I hope it’s helpful but it’s not intended to be life advice or anything like that. Just my own musings which include some stories, quotes, and pictures here and there.
