Our new paper shows how restrictive abortion policies can increase infant mortality. Some— but not all— of the increase we found was likely due to forced continuation of pregnancies with known lethal congenital anomalies. Absolutely heartbreaking study to work on.

How do abortion restrictions impact birth rates? Our analysis in @JAMA_current studied the impact of the 2021 Texas Heartbeat Act on counts of lives births. We find ~9800 births above expectation between Apr-Dec 2022 (3% increase) in Texas. (Work w/ Suzanne Bell & @Lizstuartdc)
