Ijiwoye finished as the sole leading scorer with 10 points. Pretty impressive for a college sophomore to score in double figures against a WNBA team! Go Card!

Might I also add that it does not always show up on the stat sheet.

@CoachFrese As a fan, these players are some of my favorites to watch and cheer for! Nothing quite like a well-timed rebound, defensive pressure forcing a turnover, or coming up with the possession on a 50/50 ball. Effort plays shift momentum for the fanbase in addition to helping the team.

They are being paid to play college basketball, they were recruited heavily, they are one of the best players on their team and they just don’t experience the “hey you didn’t make this team” very often. The scoreline only tells half the story. Tonight in Kansas City, @DtigressNG went toe to toe with the Minnesota Lynx in a historic clash that proved one thing, Nigerian basketball belongs on the global stage. Narrowly missing the win doesn't dim the shine of this performance.

Despite the loss, Nigeria women's national basketball team gave a really encouraging showing. Ezinne Kalu led the way with 25 points, setting the tone with her usual composure, while Gabby Williams added 16 points and continues to look more comfortable running the point, especially this early into her run with the team. Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah chipped in 11 solid points, showing her presence, and Uche Izoje’s 8 points, largely from that smooth mid-range, gave the offense nice balance. Veterans like Promise Amukamara (5 points) still bring leadership that doesn’t always show on the stat sheet. Honestly, this group is building something exciting. #ballchatwithkenny
