NEWS: Dutch regulators (RDW), the key authority that would clear the path for Tesla FSD approval across much of Europe, has issued a response to @Tesla’s 𝕏 post today. "We know that Tesla's application has the interest of many people. The RDW gets a lot of (media) questions about this. Given this great interest and the many speculations, we would like to give a short response to Tesla's message and request. Normally, we never make statements about requests from manufacturers because of the market-sensitive information. Assessment process: In the message, Tesla states that they are in the final phase of the assessment process. That's right, Tesla and the RDW are currently going through the final stages of the assessment process. About 18 months ago, the joint intensive testing program began. During the term and in this final phase, the RDW thoroughly looks at the test results and analyzes the data. During this final phase, our inspectors will review all data and test results and, after completion of this process, a decision will be made on the approval of the driver's assistance system FSD Supervised. For the RDW, (traffic) safety is paramount."

@qatarairways We had an amazing experience with you SEA > DOH > BOM yesterday! Traveling with two small kids can be brutal, but QSuites and @Starlink made it a breeze! I even took a work video call from the air and had better connectivity than those stuck in LA traffic! 😂🤯

@RealDanODowd We do know 100% for sure that camera-only L5 is possible. Humans can already do it with just two.

Tesla self-driving version 14.2.2.2 gave up five times due bright sunlight. Is this the robotaxi version? What happens when there's no one in the front seat to rescue FSD when it gets scared of shadows and sunlight? No one knows whether or not safe Level 5 autonomy is possible with vision-only. If vision-only is possible then all the actual robotaxi companies could just stop using their LiDAR and radar. If it isn't, $TSLA is doomed.

@aakashgupta It’s people like you who used to call Tesla “structurally bankrupt” and insisted that they would never turn a profit. The concept of deploying capital to enable revenue generation is not a new one.

The SpaceX math is even crazier than this post suggests. Three days ago Musk merged SpaceX with xAI. Combined valuation: $1.25 trillion. SpaceX revenue: $15-16 billion. xAI revenue over nine months: $210 million. xAI cash burn over the same period: $9.5 billion. So the IPO isn’t really for SpaceX. SpaceX generates $1-2 billion in free cash flow and doesn’t need public capital. The IPO is an exit ramp for xAI investors before the burn rate chews through the $20 billion they raised last month. The WSB poster says institutional investors will have to “smell the shit before chomping on it.” He’s right. But the shit isn’t Starlink. Starlink did $10.4 billion last year with 50%+ growth and real margins. The shit is that Starlink’s cash flows are now permanently funding a money-losing AI lab while Musk pitches electromagnetic railguns on the Moon to launch orbital data centers. The roadshow deck has to explain that to pension fund managers who allocate 3% to growth equity. Good luck.

@javilopen The “if it isn’t possible today, it sure never will be” crowd never ceases to amaze me. I mean, just extrapolate linearly if you have such a hard time grasping the exponential progress we’re truly living through. But a flat line? COME ON!!! 🤡 🤣

People saying things like: - fps is so low - the worlds aren't playable - some things disappear as soon as you look away - it’s pointless …are completely missing the point. Just like they did back when the critiques were 'not a good image' or 'too many fingers'. EVERY pixel generated in real time, with the beginnings of in-LLM memory of the environment. That's insane. A few of us have been anticipating this since the Disco Diffusion days, when you had to wait 2 hours to generate a mediocre image… and that was only 4 years ago. The times we're living through are absolutely unreal. Like, do people really not have the few neurons to make the tiniest extrapolation? If we can already do this right now, what are we going to have in 10–20 years? Everything. Literally everything. Fluid and interchangeable: novel to movie, photo to video game, all swappable, seamless, and real time from one to another.

I think a lot of people underestimate how many people will switch airlines for great internet (@Starlink). Airlines that don't have great internet will lose customers to airlines that do have great internet.

When the @Tesla Model S first hit the scene, I was interviewed by @Reuters about my experience. They picked my quote as their opening line: "When I got into my car, I thought, 'Wait a minute, this looks like something from the movie I just worked on,'" said Baillie. "It's like Star Trek." The crazy thing is that @elonmusk and team have worked hard to keep that same feeling alive ever since - the wonder with the cars (esp. w FSD) is still as visceral now as it was 13 years ago. Farewell, Model S. You, and your fellow X, 3, Y and @Cybertruck brethren have changed the automotive landscape, and my view of cars, forever. reuters.com/article/busine…

@kbvfx Highway is different though. Stays mainly in right lane. It's these smaller 2 lane roads it loves the left lane

Mad Max on 14.2.1 is PATHETIC. Traffic on this road moves around 55 to 60. No issue with going 42 to 45 but stay out of the left lane! You can see a car pass me on the right. For context, 13.2.9 in Standard with max speed temporarily set to 60 would go 52 to 55. Perfect.

Agreed. I do, however, think this is where “clients” have an opportunity to further differentiate themselves. Those who merely aim to save time will get what they pay for. Those who make room for storytellers to tell exceptional stories using these new tools stand to see incredible results. IMO we haven’t seen a lot of the latter…yet.

@kbvfx @Todd_Spence I personally believe that the new tools rightly dealt with will produce a compelling result. My guess is that will still take time, and it seems to be what the client wants to erode.

This classic Coca-Cola ad from 1993 has more design, character, story, personality, warmth and heart, than the AI slop these companies and goofballs are pushing today. The difference couldn't be any clearer.

The notion that Elon keeps repeating that Tesla is so far ahead with humanoid robots is fiction. There's no evidence to prove it. This is for sale now at $20,000 and shipping this year. They just raised $1 billion. Unitree is also shipping humanoid robots. The idea that Tesla will just leapfrog them appears to be hopeful thinking.
