I have gotten at least 50 comments saying the $CAR short around 575’s I would have blown my account when it hit $847’s. Let me be clear: 1) You don’t ever short anything with size. I said that explicitly when I mentioned CAR. Subway sandwich amounts only. So 2-5% of your total account size so you ride the position even if it goes against you initially. Gives you a lot of buffer in case. 2) I even posted twice that CAR at the peak was worth more than almost the entire US rental car industry combined, just about. 3) I even mentioned that CAR was the biggest component of the Dow Transport at one point. Absurd. 4) Too many ppl think when I make a short call the position has to move in your direction right away. Jeez the instant gratification crowd in full force. 5) Too many ppl have the mentality it’s a full port or nothing position. It doesn’t make any sense to say CAR from $575 to $847 would blow my account if I allocated up to 5% of my portfolio to it. 6) The short eventually worked out very well in two days from $575 to $875 back down to $200. But instead of seeing it as a successful trade they just want to assume I got blown out lol. Oh Fintwit… Sometimes I can say the sky is blue, and you will still say no. Oh wells.
