This is one reason I'm suspicious of most humanoid robotics companies today. I've seen lots of canned demos in perfect or near perfect conditions. Very very few in uncontrolled settings that were even the slightest bit impressive.
Keller Cliffton@Keller

The Bitter Lesson of Robotics: It's extremely easy to make a video of a robot doing something once under perfect conditions then post it to X. But it often takes a decade to harden systems and design for all the insane edge cases of the real world. Many companies raising $$$$ on cool demos, but all the hard work comes after

More AI slop
Keller Cliffton@Keller

Great to host @howardlutnick and his team at our factory – the largest autonomous aircraft manufacturing facility in the US. We are at the beginning of another industrial revolution. AI and robotics will dramatically remake the world over the next 5-10 years. Done right, we can save lives, save money, and save time. Today America is the global leader in autonomous logistics and @zipline is working hard to keep it that way

@blakeir @jesskah @zipline May have been me that said that. While cars weigh 4,000 pounds, create traffic, and have to be driven by humans, Zips weigh 60 pounds, reduce traffic and noise, and are 20x safer. Our goal is to approximate teleportation

@PierceLilholt The crazy thing about this year is that everything is getting better. Range, payload, noise profile, integration, and even weather uptime. Meanwhile, our costs are improving rapidly. Already less expensive than using a car, but will be much much better by EOY

Setbacks are often exactly what you need to make you the best that you can be. I recently met @zipline co-founder @Keller Rinaudo Cliffton and was blown away learning about the early journey of the company. There were endless regulatory roadblocks, non stop tech failures and doubters at every turn, saying drones for life-saving deliveries would never work. They eventually found a path forward to prove out the impossible in Rwanda. Now 12 years later, 2M deliveries made, 100M+ miles flown and lives saved worldwide. Zipline just raised $600M with a $7.6B valuation and soon everyone reading this post will have the ability to have something delivered by them! 💪
