Nick Faldo’s judgement on Tiger Woods:
Quotes from the Telegram article by James Corrigan.
Sir Nick Faldo: “Tiger Woods should not be welcomed back with open arms.”
The Englishman also believes that the 15-time major-winner should not be “welcomed back [to the sport] with open arms”.
Faldo is perturbed by the manner in which golf’s authorities responded – Augusta National sent out a similarly fawning statement after revealing Woods had withdrawn from next week’s Masters. The Englishman is concerned that, as in his previous scandals, the incident will ultimately be brushed under the carpet.
The Tour will look after him, as they always have done. But then you’ve got Jack [Nicklaus] saying it has tarnished the entire sport. There has to be some accountability. Forget about golf. We are not meant to be on the streets with two pills in our pocket.”
Faldo believes there should also be some sort of recrimination from within the sport.
“Our sport is based on discipline. You rule yourself, you police yourself. I would have thought the PGA Tour – behind closed doors – must be very disappointed that they pay Tiger tens of millions to be on the course and off the course with this business role he has got [as chairman of the player-driven Future Competitions Committee].
“He has only finished nine tournaments in the last five years, yet they feel he is the future on the golf course and the future in the decision-making and they must say… ‘oh boy, what do we get out of that?’ In the normal walk of life, there would be some accountability.”

@SHistorians Faldo is exactly right! Stripper loving, pill popping, womanizing Tiger is more in the class of John Daley than Jack or Arnie!! That’s a slight insult to Daley too bec/ @ least Daley admits to his faults & bad behavior!

Let him go.✌🏻
Hollywood Smothers made his choice, and in doing so, he showed exactly who he is. He committed to Alabama. He enrolled in classes. He stepped on campus knowing what this program represents, the standard, the expectations, the pressure, the WORK. And then… he peaced out.
That’s not a misunderstanding.
That’s not bad timing.
That’s a decision.
Alabama isn’t for everybody. It never has been. This place exposes you. It demands everything you’ve got. It asks if you’re willing to be coached hard, pushed harder, and earn every single rep. Some guys want the logo. Some guys want the money. Very few want the grind.
He chose the bag.
He chose Texas.
He chose to leave Bama.
And that’s fine, because this program has never been about chasing quick money or instant gratification.
Alabama football was built by men who stayed.
Men who fought.
Men who bought in when it was uncomfortable.
Men who wore crimson with pride and understood that loyalty still matters.
You don’t commit to Alabama and then bounce the moment something shinier comes along.
That tells us everything we need to know.
We will be just fine without him. We always are.
Because Alabama doesn’t rebuild around individuals, individuals rebuild around Alabama. The jersey matters more than the name on the back. The standard is bigger than any one player.
We don’t need rentals.
We don’t need anyone who’s here for a paycheck instead of a purpose.
We need men who lock in.
Men who go to war for the guy beside them.
Men who embrace the pressure, the criticism, the grind, and don’t blink.
We need players who choose Alabama when it’s uncomfortable.
When it’s hard.
When nothing is promised and everything has to be earned.
Because this program isn’t for the weak-hearted or the money-chasers.
It’s for men who want to be tested.
Men who want to be remembered.
Men who understand that wearing crimson is an honor, not just a transaction.
If you’re not built for that…
Alabama will expose you.
And Alabama will move on.
If they ain’t wearing crimson…
They ain’t Bama.
Roll Tide.

*NOT CONFIRMATION OF RUMORS FROM AGGIES REGARDING SARK TO NFL*
That being said, if I were a head coach in college with the opportunity to get paid near what is made in college…I would take it
-Job security is the same
-Free Agency has regulations
-Draft picks can’t transfer
College football has a real problem right now, the league is basically mimicking the professional side of things but with much less guardrails and extreme volatility. All while offering a lesser product.
Things need to be fixed FAST or college football is headed towards the dumpster.

When coaches complain about kids hopping in the portal, “instant gratification,” etc, they conveniently leave out that not all of them leave voluntarily. nytimes.com/athletic/69380…
