Europe has everything needed to be one of the most innovative and powerful economies in the world: talent, culture, engineering, capital, strong institutions, and 450 million people. The problem is that Europe is not actually one market. It’s 27 partially connected markets. Multiple stock exchanges. Different tax systems. Different regulatory frameworks. Different licensing regimes. Capital, people, and companies still can’t move and operate across Europe as easily as they should. Scale matters. Scale creates innovation. Scale creates growth. Scale creates resilience. The United States has it. China has it. India increasingly has it. Europe has all the ingredients. But it runs on an outdated operating system. That’s why we should seriously debate federalizing Europe and create a United States of Europe: a true single market where capital flows freely, companies scale faster, and innovation can happen at continental scale. Not to erase nations. France would still be France. Italy would still be Italy. Spain would still be Spain. Europe needs to operate at the scale of its own potential.
