Woe to publishers who produce “e-books” that don’t have page numbers.

@flemingrut Still processing. This stuck with me. “In the coming night he thought that men would band together in the hills. Feeding their small fires with the deeds and the covenants and the poetry of their fathers. Documents they’d no gift to read in a cold to loot men of their souls.”

Hey, there seem to be a lot of Cormac fans out there. Read the new ones yet? On another tack, Graham Greene. *A Burnt-Out Case* is more user-friendly by some standards but what an unblinking look at life's struggles.

I have lots of thoughts on this. Many others have given it more thought. I do wonder what the culture of leadership, especially among church planters in certain Christian corners, has contributed to this.

@ronniejmartin I've since realized that humor (granted, dad humor...and some wouldn't even say it's funny) is just a part of who I am. I don't write it in, it usually comes in the moment, and I do think it's contributed to it not being a performance...but everyone is different

What Jared said. And what comes with that human-ness is a posture that doesn’t take yourself so seriously, which can naturally lead to humorous impressions of things. Also, a little humor can help guard against not making yourself the hero of your personal illustrations, too.
Jared C. Wilson@jaredcwilson

Good humor is fine, appropriately used. But really what every sermon needs is a *human-ness,* a pastoral quality, a brokenness, a warmth, the word coming through a person who is *real.* We need fewer performers and fewer commentary-bots in our pulpits

It was a thrill today to hold my new book for the first time, think about all that went into writing it, and be flooded with emotion. I pray the book is a blessing to churches and future sent ones. @newgrowthpress

As I get older, I am less and less impressed by people, including theologians, who think they have everything figured out.

@ArtTurner11 You should talk to your pastor before making any life-changing decisions…
