But bitcoin itself appreciated about 6.5% over that same week, so when measured in BTC, the same tank only got about 7% more expensive instead of 14%. Bitcoin softened the hit but didn’t fully cancel it. Also worth flagging, the $7.50 jump isn’t really monetary inflation. Gas is spiking due to the Iran war and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, which are squeezing oil supply. CPI doesn’t move 14% in a week.
