Open source is dead.
That’s not a statement we ever thought we’d make.
@calcom was built on open source. It shaped our product, our community, and our growth. But the world has changed faster than our principles could keep up.
AI has fundamentally altered the security landscape. What once required time, expertise, and intent can now be automated at scale. Code is no longer just read. It is scanned, mapped, and exploited. Near zero cost.
In that world, transparency becomes exposure. Especially at scale.
After a lot of deliberation, we’ve made the decision to close the core @calcom codebase.
This is not a rejection of what open source gave us. It’s a response to what risks AI is making possible.
We’re still supporting builders, releasing the core code under a new MIT-licensed open source project called cal. diy for hobbyists and tinkerers, but our priority now is simple:
Protecting our customers and community at all costs.
This may not be the most popular call.
But we believe many companies will come to the same conclusion.

@KennethCassel Imma head to Lowe’s and see how many scrap 2x4s I can walk out with

@panphora Been watching you iterate on this idea for years, glad to see some traction!

When I posted OverType.dev to HN yesterday, I was thrilled to hit top 10.
What I was NOT expecting...??!
Getting to #1 on HN with Hyperclay.com today. Someone noticed the note in the footer on OverType and posted it!!!
42 early access signups so far 😲❤️

@damengchen C-corp can defer distributions, and look into FTC for what isn't covered by FEIE. Unless you pay no taxes outside the US you can minimize any impact of this.
You have a Delaware C-Corp. You're going to have to file US returns. No reason to be "double taxed" though.

@richiemcilroy Both! cap.so is radically good. But I still focus on .com for SEO...
I'd probably waffle around the specifics for a while and end up with some sort of cap.so redirect to caprecorder.com.
English

or both. caprecorder.com for the main domain, Cap.so for short links 🧐

I love it when people gives me product feedback.
Here are the 3 reasons why:
1. As a solo guy, I have no team members to discuss things. When customers provide feedback, it's like having a team telling me what I'm not seeing.
2. Focus. Whenever I get feedback, I know what I need to focus on. Immediately, I know what matters more and what's next on the priority list.
3. Saves time. I get more done after I get feedback b/c of #1 and #2. If you're working on your product alone, how you spend your cycles matters.

@ChristianSelig I was fired from @apple today. I was the designer tasked with replacing that icon with the Reddit app icon and thought "I could do the funniest thing ever"...
English

@daniel_nguyenx I'm going to be that guy paying for requests because I use Claude-4 for everything. I don't trust 3.7 anymore 😅
English

@TrungTPhan I wonder if they changed it because everyone on Twitter kept calling it "the a-hole logo"
English

@VicVijayakumar @davidfowl This is the kind of project I build with .csv import and a calendar reminder to do the .csv export/import, and then what do you know I got emotional one day and figured out how to automate it.
English

@davidfowl I don’t know if you’re serious but I’m cocky enough to think that I can do this over a weekend
English

@daniel_nguyenx @thekitze Have you guys tried any of the Electron alternatives? Curious to give them a whirl.
English

@thekitze I make fun of it but never said that. Although there are definitely more bad electron apps than bad swift apps.
English

I’m jealous with AI SaaS founders. I honestly just want to “wrap” AI SDK then spend all my time on marketing.
Instead I have to maintain something similar in Swift and it has been a pain 🥲
AI SDK@aisdk
MCP client support for the AI SDK is here! Shoutout to @jueungraceyun for contributing the feature!

@daniel_nguyenx @jackfriks White logo on bg, small text link to learn more 🤷
English

@jackfriks Yeah after onboarding but before the main app. Not sure how to make the text/logo look good on the bg 😅
English

@LayersOfAndrew @damengchen I thought yelling at an AI was ridiculous.
Then, I got an AI coworker 😵💫
English

@damengchen Debugging code you didn't write... looks like our future's going to be a whole lot of "AI, WTF did you generate?"

pmn.blue/chat.html
Each response has a Last-Modified header, so it's pretty lean. R2 just seems to be engineered properly so that it seamlessly invalidates in what seems sub-second, round trip, from POST -> Upload -> Invalidation -> CDN responds that the file was modified
English

Noticing that @Cloudflare R2 is more performant than it needs to be. Might be some uses for that.
Built a little chat room to demonstrate. Seems real-time enough, but the current room messages are just a json file behind a CDN in R2. It polls with If-Modified-Since headers.
