Thailand is reducing the visa for most foreign countries from 60 days to 30 days in the coming weeks (inc USA, UK, China etc) but...
Rumour has it, India's visa allowance is to be reduced to 15 days only.
bangkok might be the best capital city in the world:
- cheap rent
- modern infrastructure
- strong expat + digital nomad scene
- ultra safe
- low taxes
- elite nightlife
- paradise islands just 1 hour away
two weeks here and other big cities start to feel like a scam
Why are so many Americans quietly moving to Thailand? 🇹🇭
The more I read about it… the more it makes sense.
You’re seeing retirees, families, and even younger Americans leaving for places like Chiang Mai and Hua Hin because life is simply cheaper, slower, and less stressful.
One American couple retired there and rents a 3-bedroom home in a gated community for about $870/month after paying ~$2,100 for a one-bedroom abroad. They said they can eat healthier, feel safer, and enjoy a better quality of life than they could afford back home.
Another American couple from Texas retired to Chiang Mai and basically said they’ve learned to stop rushing through life. They spend about $4K–$5K/month while traveling, eating well, socializing, and “wanting for nothing.”
Even younger families are doing it. One guy burned out from finance, moved his family to Thailand for financial independence, and said lower costs, community, and a better lifestyle made the move worth it.
At some point you start asking…
Are people chasing money anymore… or quality of life?
Massive strategic blunder for KL International Airport to be built so far away from downtown KL.
Just make the entire business visit a lot more unpleasant.
Name the best-tasting chocolate in the world.
And don't even think about posting "Hershey's." That stuff tastes like vomit-flavored wax.
For me? Cadburys Dairy Milk and Milka.
They want to build a datacentre in Surrey. We don't need them. Build them in China like the factories. I don't know a single person who uses a datacentre. Everyone's got Facebook on their phone now. If you don't have one there's a computer at our local library. Enough.
@kingorry032@arthur0x@kashdhanda@grok And funnily enough, it takes 40 mins by rail from raffles place to changi airport (20km), and 50 mins by rail from bukit bintang to klia (60km)
@joonian@arthur0x@kashdhanda@grok KL doesn’t have a high-speed rail link to the city centre. It has a slow rail link to the ironically named KL Sentral.
@arthur0x@kashdhanda@grok *but* if we are to argue about strategic missteps... i would say the lack of a high speed train to/from Changi to the city centre is especially egregious, since it HK has had once since 1998 and KL since 2002 :-)
Quite a head scratcher, that one!
Why does Spain care so much about Palestine? Like it's weird. They threatened to boycott the WC if Israel was there, they already do for the Eurovision. Barcelona won the league and had a Palestinian flag on the bus during the parade! Etc etc
Like they don't even have that high of a Muslim population compared to other countries, so why is this issue so big for them???
'If you could be back in the single market and back to the days when being publicly racist was career-ending, you would do it, right?'
James O'Brien explains the two 'very slow' but 'needed things for this country to begin to get itself back together'.
About 15 years ago, a Somalian family moved into my neighbourhood. They had nothing.
Within days, their house was pretty much fully furnished with each of us giving what we could.
My neighbourhood just went Reform.
What happened?
@ajlamesa Rejoiners don’t want to hear it, but it will still take 3+ years. Article 49 still has to be followed and there is no guarantee some countries would not object or they’d try to force the Euro on us.
You are driving a German car to an Italian coffeeshop to drink Brazilian coffee and then going home buying Chinese takeaway to sit on a Swedish sofa in front of a Korean TV to watch U.S. shows and all the while being complain your neighbor is an immigrant. Pull yourself together.
People in the UK see a doctor, on average 5-6 times a year.
In Italy 9-10 times a year.
Right, I know there's an element of luck in this and luck can run out, but I haven't seen a doctor since 2016, when I got my ears syringed.
You can't tell me people in the UK get so seriously ill 5-6 times a year that they need a doctor!
WTF are you people doing at the doctor? Do you just go to hang out or what? Are you all George out of Seinfeld, asking what happens if you've swallowed a fly?
No wonder the NHS is collapsing!
Someone explain this to me!
Come on @Tesco!!! You buy a steak for £11 for a special occasion, looks lovely until you turn it over and realise half of it is fat and sinew. No time to return it so have to pretty much cut it in half to make it edible. Finest my ass!! Do better and stop tricking customers!!
flying dubai to sydney
80% of business class is empty
why would they not sell those seats for dirt cheap or give them away to select economy passengers?
all the costs are sunk costs (personal, fuel, food etc.) anyway at the point of departure
If it's true that Muslims generally don't like dogs, I'd be open to the idea of just getting rid of them.
They're bad for the climate, they're not very bright, they attack people randomly, they smell bad, and they do almost no useful work.
So why does the West feel the need to have millions of them, just hanging around, a dead weight on the economy?
And to make matters worse, many of them are even ginger.
Many of my comrades think of them like children who need to be protected. They are not children!
I know, as a climate activist, I'm supposed to love animals. But how much of this animal behaviour are we supposed to put up with, actually?
If we had a functioning media the very first question they would ask any Labour candidate is whether he would arrest Netanyahu if he came to the U.K.
The answer to that question will tell you if he works for us or not.
