We would walk from my boys' school in midtown to the upper west side as kids, and Al Roker walked the other way (it's one way he lost weight). Inner city trips you really don't need a car unless hauling something

Today I spotted a guy with BOTH plates covered, plus an NYPD sticker and an EXPIRED (and probably fake) @NYCSanitation placard AND an expired inspection sticker — so I did what anyone would do: commit CRIMINAL MISCHIEF!

Google maps guesses an avg of 10mph, but some ride faster (some slower), my dad is in his 70s and still rides with his old dude crew

@MattyHerrmann @the_transit_guy I make fun of recklesss ebikers, they r annoying like flies and sometimes dangerous like mosquitoes, but they are a part of the ecosystem.

@the_transit_guy I feel adding e-bikes to this would absolutely be a death trap. Try spending 5 mins on the bike paths of the NYCs West Side Highway. Kids going 5 mph, normal bikers at 15, delivery guys at 30.

@DecliningUS @the_transit_guy I’m ok with walking but I have no balance (thanks autism) and can’t bike. If street cars were more common then I could do that because I can walk. Seattle has tons of steep hills where transport would be most helpful. I know many folks in similar situations.

@friendshrimps @the_transit_guy Agreed. They're a breeze and efficient. But please, it's an absolute free-for-all. There's regular bikers, delivery/Citi e-bikers, rollerbladers, walkers, scooters... constant weaving into the other lane to pass... and a rare few yielding to pedestrians trying to cross.

@gabe1079 @the_transit_guy I get your frustration (tho there are people who do, via ebike or regular). It might not take much for your municipality to change zoning but if you push you'll see change eventually
