Don't miss this latest #EJVESVA on "Prevalence of Smoking and Impact on Peri-Operative Outcomes After Elective Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair" #aortaed @robhinchliffe1 @JoseeRijn @petarz_91 Elective infrarenal AAA repairs in the UK 2014-21 were studied (n=26 916): 22% were active, 62% former, and 16% never smokers. Many serious complications were more common among active smokers, yet there was a 2.4 fold variation in the proportion of active smokers between hospitals. Smoking cessation programs can save lives. It’s dangerous to blur the lines between doctors and PAs (not doctors/no medical degree). This kind of practice is illegal and what @gmcuk should protect the public against. @NHSEngland must rethink the #itsaGPthing campaign entirely.
