@goofyeighteen @strange_info Third was 明暮 / AKeKuRe @akkr_jp, continuing the theme of showing how much great sound you can get from a two-person band. (And thanks for the shout out to the visitor, ちょっと恥ずかしでした 😳)

For anyone visiting Tokyo, I strongly recommend checking out the local indie music scene. I had a blast yesterday at Ogikubo club Doctor. A short 🧵 with pictures and videos, and apologies for the iffy camera work. (I was trying to focus on the music...)

@fractal_2023 Apologies in case I messed up the Twitter threading, doing my best using a Steam Deck as a laptop replacement...

@fractal_2023 Same-day events show up in the "past gigs" section which was a bit confusing. Probably because the site is intended for making reservations, and it's too late for that. For more info, see this helpful reddit post: reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/…

remember when guitar hero was THE game and everyone loved it and then they (and Rock Band) released 5000000 versions of it over 2 years and it killed all interest in both games

@ZenOfDesign Baldur's Gate 3 has a nice feature for pack rats, hold down the A button to add all nearby interactable objects to a search list. Be careful though, it apparently uses 2D proximity and the character will happily jump into an abyss to reach an object that's far below.

Nothing that someone with OCD like mine loves more than having an opportunity to awkwardly use a console controller to look over every object in the screen to see if it's worth picking up.

@VRNima I'd say almost all, it doesn't seem possible to use it with headphones other than earbuds. That may be intentional since a goal seems to be not isolating the user from the environment. Would sound leakage from the built-in speakers get annoying in a shared office?

Modularity from an Apple product? iPhone let’s you choose a case and maybe an external battery or wallet, Apple Watch let’s you choose your strap, but this basically lets you change it all. All the VR accessory manufacturers should be looking at building a battery strap.
Ben Lang@benz145

These parts, plus the battery pack, are the modular elements of AVP. Third parties will be able to make their own, which should allow for lots of customization and improved ergonomics. Apple itself will offer different sizes of the facepad and headstrap, probably auto-suggested based on a pre-purchase face-scan.

@Gpryu @ZenOfDesign Creating a movie theater experience for watching a movie in VR is fine. But having to walk your avatar from room to room to find one that's showing a movie you want to see would be a pointless complication. That sounds way too much like "Community"'s VR user interface episode.

@ZenOfDesign Pretty sure that wasn’t PS Home, as I was around Sony for most of that. And movies in VR are actually pretty great, due to the one of the things VR does better than flat/2D sceeens, which is immersion. The other is presence, which when done right is magic.

Years ago, I went to an E3 demo (I believe) of PlayStation Home. This was their ‘3D’ home page, basically a little virtual world you’d log in to navigate to various stuff that you’d have to navigate to in a menu on that OTHER console. (1/Short thread)

@ZenOfDesign I'd expect that quite a few movie enthusiasts upgraded their home theater setup during COVID, so they'd already have a good-enough viewing experience for anything short of a true spectacle. (Bone-rattling subwoofers aren't very compatible with living in an apartment.)

But literally no one thinks that artsy films should stop being made. To the degree that artsy films are less successful in theaters than they used to be, that stems more from COVID, and people only wanting to risk going to a theater for a true spectacle on the big screen.
