Got to spend the past 4 days touring the UP with the two best commissioners in the country. Honored to be able to serve with @DanScripps & @CarreonAle, and even more honored to go hiking to a waterfall with you in our work clothes & pick wild raspberries off the side of the road

Our Upper Peninsula visit this week included a tour this morning of the Cleveland-Cliffs Tilden mine, where iron ore is extracted for steelmaking. Mine operations require extensive amounts of electricity. We appreciated the fascinating view into this critical UP energy issue.

Commissioners and some staff are in the Upper Peninsula this week, for tomorrow’s public hearing in Marquette and to visit with utilities, tribes and major employers in the area. Today we toured Cloverland Electric Co-op’s huge and amazing hydro facility on the St. Mary’s River.

Today @SecGranholm came out to Michigan’s west coast to celebrate the loan to restart 800 MW of clean, baseload power for our state along with @GovWhitmer, @katyhuff, @JoeyforMichigan, and so many supportive workers, community members. It’s a proud day.

Being a part of the historic effort to restart Palisades has been one of the greatest joys of my career. So thankful for @GovWhitmer’s leadership and @SecGranholm’s announcement of a $1.5B conditional loan to get this critical baseload clean energy plant back on the grid! ⚡️

Got to see the incredible line worker & utility arborist programs this morning at Alpena Community College & the 18MW Lincoln Biomass plant today w @DanScripps and some great @MichiganPSC staff. Seeing how our energy system works is one of my favorite parts of the job!

Took my first real road trip in my @FordMustang Mach-E today and it couldn’t have gone better. More planning for charging upfront, but the Ford dealer in West Branch was👌- 20 min stop then back on the road to Alpena. Will update tomorrow with where I’m visiting & the drive home!
