@kevolutn Trying to construct buildings (cells) with a shortage of bricks (NADPH)? I know it's a crude analogy but imo you have to make some leaps to make analogies fit.

Hardest part of #scicomm for me is the gap between subject matter experts and a general audience.
I think and see in technical terms (Zwf1 & redox state).
I can reduce concepts to analogies (gears & levers).
But how do I talk about redox metabolism without Zwf1 to non-experts?

@patrick_diep We kinda have the same problem with the term 'GMOs' right. I remember ginkgo tried starting up a "I love GMOs" campaign a few years ago to try and educate people.

@patrick_diep Totally agree. I think we need more research labs open up for synbio too. Only a handful of groups work on synbio up here compared to USA/Europe
