Just got back from the @OfficialINDIAai Impact Summit in Delhi yesterday, and honestly, it left a really bad taste. I went as a researcher and someone building an AI startup for promoting Indian languages, really looking forward to Yann LeCun's 3.45 talk on world models in the research symposium. From 3 pm though, security just locked down every single entry for "VIP movement." They told us to walk all the way around the premises. I did it too, like a fool, sweating for 25 minutes, only to get to the hall and hear the exact same thing again: "Abhi VIP movement hai, entry band hai." People who were already inside the venue? I saw them get evacuated too to clear space for the VIPs. And this wasn't even once. In the morning, when I was walking from Gate 7 to Gate 4, near Gate 5 everyone got stopped, made to turn back 100-150 meters and just stand there for 10-15 minutes because of another VIP movement. Both times, I felt like a third class citizen at an event that was supposed to be for people like me. Never felt so out of place and disrespected at anything AI related. The whole summit is, sorry was, meant for researchers, founders, builders who are grinding in the field every day. Instead we get treated like we don't matter, blocked for hours so some minister or official can pass through. And don't get me wrong. There were a lot of good things too, the @Sarvam launches were gold (much love and respect to them) and I met amazing startups at the booths building so many good products, but overall it came across way more like a government PR show to tell the world "look, India is doing AI" than a real gathering FOR the AI community. We have crazy good talent in AI here. If we ever want to be taken seriously on the global stage, we have to drop this VIP nonsense and start giving respect to the actual people doing the work. Not treat us like background noise. The good thing is that I have understood which events I need to avoid from now on. The ones that actually care about the community over the photo ops are the only ones worth going to. I hope things will be better soon!

#Telangana: The most useless job holders are Commissioners appointed for RTI department. They don’t look into files, nor to they pass RTI applications to the concerned department for clearance. Simply sitting and taking 2-3 lakh salary very month. Waste of public money.

Election Commission is on a rampage to DESTROY our voter rolls. Here is how. CEC Gyanesh is effectively doing multiple SIR's today: Version 1 - Bihar SIR Distribute forms, make voters fill forms, attach 12 documents to prove you deserve to be a voter, BLO uploads it using an app. Version 2 - 11 States Distribute forms, make voters MAP themselves with a relative in 2002 voter list, get a notice for hearing, show one of 12 documents to prove you deserve to be a voter, ERO & EC decides. Version 2.1 - 11 States + Deduplication Software Midway through Version 2, EC randomly activated a deduplication software which started identifying duplicate entries & flagging them. BLOs were instructed to do ground checks. Version 2.2 - 11 States + Deduplication + NEW SPECIAL Algorithm Version 2.1 had another layer applied on top, a special algorithm that identifies "logical inconsistencies" based on the SIR done by BLOs. These voters get flagged, and BLOs have to do ground checks AGAIN. Version 3 - Assam Not an SIR, just a regular voluntary checking of voter list by BLOs. Version 4 - West Bengal (Latest reveal) EC officials in West Bengal were VERBALLY instructed to end the form submission date BEFORE the official submission date. Voters who gave forms after the unofficial days were marked "absent" and will get notices. BONUS: The 2002-2003 voter list is being used to 'map' voters. Officials have admitted off the record that even this list has 60-90% error rate! How is it that different rules are being applied to different states for the SAME exercise? HOW will this ensure consistency in voter rolls across the states? In short: Gyanesh Kumar has effectively scrambled, toyed with and destroyed our voter lists. Congrats all!
