@JonFromAlberta The moment “patriot” showed up in your name, expectations dropped straight to comic book dialogue written during a head injury.

When Newfoundland joining Canada happened, it passed with just 52%. That was enough to bring Newfoundland into Canada.
So let’s be honest about what that means. If 52% is enough to join, then 52% is enough to leave. That’s already the precedent, and everybody understands what a clear majority is.
If 52% of Albertans vote to leave and we’re told we’re “not allowed,” then what does that actually say about the system? At that point, the decision has already been made by the people.
Because if independence is the end goal, you don’t ask permission forever. You get the mandate first. Until there’s a vote, nothing changes. But once there is, everything does.

NEW: On the first day of the war with Iran, the United States used a new ballistic missile. It was untested in combat. Our analysis shows it struck a sports hall, an elementary school, and residential areas — killing at least 21 people, including children. w/ @johnismay

@ABDanielleSmith @DuaneBratt @avilewis @nenshi Seriously, can you post one thing that isn’t a lie? Course not. NDP & liberals delivered on the pipeline. Meanwhile you’ve funnelled ABns $ to O&G & your friends, destroyed HC & educ, trampled over ABns rights, kicked people when their down & enriched yourself. #FireTheUCP #ableg

Congratulations to @avilewis on being voted in as the new leader of the NDP.
I look forward to working to hold the Carney Liberals to account for the worst grocery price inflation and fastest-shrinking economy in the G7.
We must make Canada affordable and safe for us all.

That's me in the video.
I was arrested yesterday by security guards at the Stampede grounds in Calgary. That land is owned by the City of Calgary. (It is "managed" by a non-profit, arms length org.) So, is the land owned by Calgarians - evidently not - it is owned by the government.
Question for Albertans:
Where is the town square?
Canvassers for @stayfreealberta petition, authorized by Elections Alberta, have tried to set up a table and wave a flag at City Hall. And they are forcibly removed by police. They're told they're on "private property" and they have to leave or be arrested.
Where is the town square?
Increasingly, that is an urgent question for Albertans to consider. Where is a citizen allowed to hold an Alberta flag, have conversations and engage voluntarily with others?
It turns out, the only safe place canvassers have found is on private property owned by landowners who appreciate the initiative.
I used to think "public property" was a thing. It's not. Maybe it never was. What I used to call "public property" is actually the King's property. It all belongs to the monarch - the Crown - and it's managed by the various levels of government: federal, provincial, municipal.
I lean libertarian, so I'm in favour of strong protections for private property. That is… if all the land was available to citizens to own. But it's not. Most land is owned by the Crown. And access to “public property” is a privilege granted by severe restrictions and, more importantly, partisan bias.

Breaking at Calgary Stampede: Man waving a flag removed by security.
Charter s.2(b) freedom of expression violation? Or just private event property rules?
What do you think?

The Stampede grounds are privately managed event space (operated by the Calgary Stampede organization, even if on city land). Organizers can enforce rules on conduct, signage, demonstrations, or materials they deem disruptive — especially during non-event periods or if they view it as unauthorized political activity. Alberta independence activism has been active at/near the grounds recently (petitions and rallies), and security likely saw it as solicitation or protest needing removal to maintain order.

Separatists are dumbfounded that security can remove trespassers from the Calgary Stampede grounds. Mind you they've been repeatedly told to get permission for their signing locations.

@Reil76 Same—I’ve been blocked by plenty. Funny how the people obsessed with “open dialogue” are also running the fastest finger on the block button the second the narrative slips out of their control.
English

Oh Trina blocking me just proves the fact that I am right! But just to back it up
Security guards (private/event security for the Calgary Stampede grounds) don’t have to give a detailed explanation when removing someone. Here’s why they often stay vague or silent in these situations:
• Private property rules: The Stampede grounds are managed as private/event space by the Calgary Stampede organization (even if on city-owned land). They can enforce their own policies on conduct, demonstrations, solicitation, or materials they consider disruptive — without needing to debate Charter rights on the spot. Trespass enforcement is a civil matter, not a criminal arrest in most cases.
