@suchetadalal Much of what is donated is not honest money. People donate a part of their dishonest earnings in the hope that God will protect the part that they have kept themselves.

When there is so much evidence of gold, silver and donations looted from all religious places, why do people still donate? As Vipashayana guru Goenka ji used to say- God doesn’t need your money. Why not create livelihoods, give shelter, help under privileged- support rainwater harvesting this year? At least you will see your money doing God’s bidding!! 🙏🙏🙏

You are a shameless creature madam. Let me share my experience with Pakistani, I was 23 when I joined Huawei software cell in dubai, first time out of the country and figuring things out. My room was almost 10-12km away from office. I would travel via public bus service, and it was not that frequent. Because we were starting a new project the work would stretch beyond 8PM. My Pakistani lead would drop me back even when he lived opposite of were I lived he would drop me and then drive all the way back crossing the office again towards his place. And then after a while I came to know that he has a disabled child who needed more of his attention. And countless similar gestures. A lot of what I am today professionally is due to him. But assholes like you will always be there to spoil our image.
Nivedita Shukla@ShuklaNive

Im at the Frankfurt Airport for a 10 hr layover. I have been traveling around for years but now it feels different. The hate for India and Indians is at peak and we subconsciously feel every one is hating on us. It's been 3 hrs now, I noticed a fellow brown colored human being who took a flight with me from Dublin. Humble clothing, unkempt face, a ragged backpack and a faded jacket. Something told me this man was poor. Most ppl were either looking at him with a judgmental look that I hate or avoiding him completely. I saw him looking at the food menu at different outlets, the cheapest I guess. My heart ached for him, he could be a hard working brother who hasn't come to terms with spending Euros yet. I have brought extra food with me. I walked up to him with my parcel of food, I asked, "Aap Dublin se aaye hain?" He smiled and answered- "Ji." Then I asked, "Kahan ja rahe hain?" "Karachi, Paxtaan!' He said, beaming. I turned around and walked back to my chair. Jaa mar!!

Grateful to the people and Government of Seychelles as well as President Herminie for conferring upon me the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon.’ I humbly accept this honour and dedicate it to all those countries that are fighting the challenge of climate change and consider environmental protection their responsibility towards future generations. This is a pressing challenge which we have to overcome together. India, on its part, stands ready to do whatever is required in making our planet greener and sustainable. This is reflected in our various domestic policies, emphasis on Mission LiFE and global efforts like the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and more. @StateHouseSey

Suppose two cars are traveling on an expressway at 100 km/h with a 50-meter gap. If the front car slams on its brakes, it takes about 3.5 seconds and nearly 50 meters to stop. If the driver behind does nothing, a collision occurs in exactly 3.5 seconds. This gives the rear driver a 3.5-second window to avoid a crash. For an alert driver, 1 second is reaction time, leaving 2.5 seconds to brake and stop safely. Now, consider the same 50-meter gap, but the front car is reversing at 10 km/h. For the car approaching from behind at 100 km/h, the closing speed skyrockets to 110 km/h, slashing the time before collision to just 1.6 seconds. In reality, it is even worse: because drivers never expect a vehicle to reverse on an expressway, their brains freeze. Reaction time jumps from 1 second to 2, 3, or more. At high speeds, drivers often crash before even realizing they need to brake. That's why reversing on an expressway is hundred times more dangerous than a sudden braking. A maneuver that feels slow to the reversing driver creates an unexpectedly violent closing speed for those behind, leaving virtually no time to react. In the video, a family of seven missed their exit on the Dehradun expressway to Haridwar. They reversed, were struck from behind, and four of them died.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE CHIEF MINISTER OF UTTARAKHAND: Dear Mr. @pushkardhami and the people of #Uttarakhand Mr. Chief Minister, I decided to write this thought provoking note to you directly and to the people of our state this Saturday evening. I am aware that it's next to impossible for any Chief Minister to reply but nonetheless I must do my bit for the larger good of our state of Uttarakhand. My question is as follows: Did your government handle the recent standoff involving Nihang Sikhs in the most appropriate manner? Ideally, this question should be asked and evaluated once this impasse concludes but given what many citizens perceive as a pattern of limited public communication during adverse situations, this will be forgotten the moment this is over, thus this intervention and dialog at this moment. While your govt & spokespersons may laud your efforts for defusing the on going crisis; there is little publicly visible evidence to suggest that the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra, or tourism & pilgrimage management more broadly, are being guided by a professional framework. Realistically, and I say this based on my years of closely observing the Yatra, there appears to be an absence of an integrated, professional planning framework at the highest levels of decision-making. If you are open minded and serious about improvements, it is this crucial gap that you and your system need to accept and work on. Let's go back right to when the Char Dham Yatra starts. Every Yatra, the way it is positioned and communicated, appears to be largely positioned around breaking records for pilgrim arrivals. I find this outlook myopic and believe this hurts Uttarakhand dearly. Apart from this mindset and Yatra positioning outlook, it goes without saying that there is immense scope for improving systems for how the broader tourism and pilgrimage activities should be organised across the state. To come back to the ongoing controversy; my impression is that your government has largely followed a reactive rather than proactive approach. Given the scale and landscape of the Char Dham Yatra, we require systems to anticipate and de-escalate such confrontations before they turn into viral incidents. In this case, public communication from the government could have been clearer and more timely. This incident and many others suggest a need for an overarching strategy for conflict management on pilgrimage and tourism routes including crowd management, liaison with locals & religious groups and stronger, hyper local intelligence networks on emerging flashpoints. At another level that is very much structural. when we all know that even if your govt does nothing, we will still get about 4 to 5 Crore Kanwariyas, 50+ lakh Char Dham Yatra pilgrims, 30+ lakhs tourists in Mussoorie/Nainital and lakhs of other guests elsewhere every year; why not establish a dedicated Uttarakhand Tourism and Pilgrimage Management Cadre comprising specialists in crowd management, carrying capacity experts and communication professionals. It must be added that a state like Uttarkhand that has a population of 1.25 Crores gets an estimated 7 to 8 Crore pilgrims and tourists every year. This floating population is only going to increase in the coming years with the start of the Rishikesh-Karanprayag rail and construction of numerous other infra projects. Whether Uttarakhand now develops a comprehensive strategy for managing societal tensions like the ongooing one on its increasingly crowded pilgrimage and tourism corridors, is the real test going forward. I firmly believe that the time for reactive governance is over. Uttarakhand truly deserves a framework for managing tourism, pilgrimage and social harmony. Hope you will live up to these expectations, Mr. Dhami. My best wishes! anoop.nautiyal@gmail.com Image Courtesy : DreamGo Himalayas!

Went to a Chart Thela tonight. A Delhi Police jeep stopped, and the officers openly took whatever they wanted, snacks, drinks, whatever, and drove off without paying a single rupee. I asked the vendor, “Bhaiya, don’t they pay you?” He just went silent. His face said it all, fear, helplessness, and exhaustion. This is the level of Delhi Police (@DelhiPolice) today. Not protectors. Not law enforcers. Just uniformed extortionists preying on poor street vendors who are barely earning their living. Shame on this police force. When the people meant to uphold the law start looting the common man so openly, the system has rotted completely.

I want to clarify something about this article @apar1984 and I wrote: An infrastructure for mass censorship is already in place, in India, and the new rules expand it. We're seeing mass censorship of accounts and posts on X, Instagram and Facebook, because of this infrastructure. This infrastructure: 1. Operates with speed: - blocking of posts has to be executed in 3 hours (govt is considering 1 hour), which means there's no scope for challenging them. This is the shortest takedown timeline in the world. Every order is an emergency order. - When platforms get 100 at a time, which happens, they act first, think never, and censor always. Impact: If someone was censored and can't understand why, this is why. No one has time to think. 2. Scale...Scope has expanded uncontested: - The reasons for which speech and posts can be taken down keeps expanding. New rules expand government powers to tweets like this one. - News websites and platforms are covered under IT Rules (illegally) - Streaming platforms are covered under the IT Rules (illegally) Impact: more types of speech is already being censored...satire, journalism, or political criticism 3. Operates without challenge, in two ways: - When you get 160 takedown orders a day (as X disclosed to a court) how many will you challenge? - Platforms don't want to react because they can lose market access in India. They're faced with unrelenting pressure from regulators, and basically choosing which hill to die on. Us being censored is not their problem. - Rules are changing frequently: 7 amendments to IT Rules since Feb 2021. By the time courts nullify one rule (and they don't always do this), new rules come up. How often will people go to court? 4. Ordering takedowns has been decentralised: - The (illegal) Sahyog portal, which is used for takedowns, is a hotline from government bodies to platforms. Thirty-three states, seven central agencies, and seventy-two companies are onboarded. 5. There is no transparency hence no accountability: - Users receive no notice. censorship orders are not provided on request. - blocking orders and the meetings of the committee that reviews them are protected by secrecy. - RTI's are not responded to. - Consultation responses are not public. 6. Government is seeking personal data of social media users using Sections 70B, 69 and 75 of the IT Act. This will lead to self censorship. 7. Lawmaking process has collapsed: - The new IT Rules consultations have a 15 day deadline. - Implementation timeline for the last one was 10 days. - Rules are being made where there used to be laws government by Parliament. The new rules mirror provisions from the Broadcast Bill which was withdrawn in 2024. Parliament is being bypassed. As we wrote: when the IT Secretary reportedly says that platforms should have started preparing to implement based on consultation drafts, it appears that outcomes are predetermined. Consultations appear to be a farce. MEITY, DoT and MIB are not accountable to anyone but the government for rules that are not in line with laws, and go against a key free speech verdict we got in 2015. That's why this is an infrastructure for censorship. It is in place, it is operational, and it is expanding. This is not just about the new rules. This is why we're sounding the alarm about: people need to know what is going on, and the Supreme Court needs to take this up. They are the court of last resort, meant to preserve constitutionality. P.s: Please keep a copy of this tweet, in case it gets censored. Or just tweet it and tag us... how many will they censor?

My aunt passed away on 29 May in Delhi at the age of 85. I applied for her death certificate on 4 June. The application was rejected once, all requested documents were resubmitted, and since then there has been been no progress. What is particularly troubling is that during follow-up, I was allegedly asked for a bribe, and officials have made unreasonable demands such as asking for her children to verify her death (she was unmarried) or for her father to verify it. Her younger sibling is 81 and immobile, while my father is 89. This is not just about one death certificate. It is about the experience ordinary citizens face when dealing with public services. If an educated family with resources is struggling, I can only imagine what less privileged citizens go through. I have already filed a complaint through the @LtGovDelhi Listening Post platform, but several previous complaints related to civic services remain unresolved. Complaint ID 2026016323 Requesting @MCD_Delhi, @gupta_rekha and @CMODelhi to look into this matter, ensure accountability, and help expedite a process that should not be this difficult for grieving families.

My Tributes on the 13th Anniversary of the Kedarnath Tragedy: Thousands lost their lives, went missing or were injured 13 years ago on June 16 & 17, 2013 in the devastating deluge at Kedarnath. Today, 13 years later, we must not only remember those who perished but also ask ourselves whether we are truly more resilient than we were then. We need to reflect on whether governments, pilgrims & tourists, yatra stakeholders & ordinary citizens have genuinely imbibed any learnings & any lessons at all from the biggest Himalayan disaster of this century. If the honest answer is that we have built nothing differently, we have hardly invested in any disaster management infra & our biggest goal is to get even more pilgrims in the future; then all one can say is that we continue to remain ignorant & arrogant, claiming to have learnt no lessons at all. May Baba Kedar continue to heal the wounds of the families who suffered personal loss & of all those whose lives were forever impacted by this disaster. ॐ शांति, शांति, शांति 🙏 Image Courtesy : HT #Kedarnath #CharDhamYatra #Uttarakhand

Thank you Mr. PM for speaking up and acknowledging that we have a heat crisis in India. I feel that based on your tweet, our CM @pushkardhami will finally break his silence and start acknowledging that we have various environmental problems in #Uttarakhand. Till now, he never acknowledged or spoke about the heat crisis of 2024, the air pollution of 2025 and the climate emergency (no snow/no rain) of 2026 in our climate vulnerable and disaster prone hill state.
Narendra Modi@narendramodi

Different parts of India are witnessing soaring temperatures and the challenges that come with it. This heat is harsh on all of us and I urge you all to take as many precautions as possible. Please stay hydrated, keep water with you when stepping out. Offer a glass of water to others. In weather like this, such kindness goes a long way.
