Today we mark #WorldRefugeeDay. Palestinians are among the largest refugee populations in the world. For over 78 years, apartheid Israel has denied our refugees their UN-stipulated right to return home and receive reparations.
Israel’s livestreamed genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza is the darkest chapter in this ongoing Nakba of ethnic cleansing. The genocide and Israel’s systematic destruction of refugee camps in the occupied West Bank serve its foundational goal of maximum land, minimum Indigenous Palestinians.
But with our people’s miraculous sumud and popular resistance, we are determined to dismantle settler-colonialism, apartheid, and military occupation to achieve our liberation.
Cut all links of state, corporate, and institutional complicity in Israel's genocidal regime. It’s an ethical and legal obligation! Channel your rage, frustration, and grief into effective, strategic BDS pressure now to support our struggle to end Israel’s ongoing Nakba.

This Juneteenth, we honor the spirit of resilience, struggle, the celebration of Black joy, and the fight for true freedom. On this day, we honor our ancestors who survived the unimaginable, and we honor the sacrifices of those who chose the sea over chains.
Today and everyday should be about recognizing the important contributions of the Black community, not only in Kansas City and Missouri, but across the nation. As we reflect on the journey of our ancestors, from Galveston to the present day, we must remember that the work is not over. True freedom means racial and economic justice. It means access to guaranteed housing, universal healthcare, and climate justice. True justice means that our babies, from Chicago to Cleveland, and here at home in Kansas City, are fed and receive the best education possible. And we must build a government that finally puts working people first.
We got us.

On June 19, 1865, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from slavery — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect.
For 161 years, Juneteenth has been a day of remembrance for the freedom that was delayed. It is also a celebration of the joy and resilience that flourished despite that delay.
The contributions of African Americans, whose struggle for freedom shaped our nation, are immeasurable. Yet too many Black families continue to bear the brunt of an affordability crisis that has pushed them out of the neighborhoods and communities they've built.
True freedom has a tangible impact on daily life: the ability to afford housing, earn a living wage, put food on the table, support a family, and create a future for generations to come.
As we celebrate today, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring this freedom is fully realized.
Happy Juneteenth, New York City.

For our Juneteenth release, Lucy (@luvisrage2dIx) returns us to oil-country Texas during the Depression, where hard times have given a whole town its reason to gather. From atop his father's shoulders, a boy watches a festivity that will become his grandson's inheritance—a memory carried for a lifetime, surfacing unbidden, refusing to fade.
"The Stench, the Stench" is a story about the brutal pastime at the heart of the American jubilee, and the way its smell lingers on the living long after the crowd has gone home.

On Juneteenth, we honor the generations of Black New Yorkers whose struggle and determination brought us closer to justice.
At Foley Square, Lorenzo Pace's sculpture stands as a powerful tribute to that legacy. Our documentary explores Dr. Pace's life, his work, and his decades-long commitment to the ongoing fight for liberation.
This Juneteenth, let us not forget that pursuit of freedom is not buried in the past. It is the responsibility of our future.

Happy Juneteenth, St. Louis!
Today marks Freedom Day, and we’ll spend it celebrating the history of Black activists from STL and across the country whose tireless struggle for justice and equality paved the way for us.
But our movement isn't confined to history books. Until we have reparations, an end to institutionalized racism, and achieve liberation, our fight continues.

As East Elmhurst resident Malcolm X said, "Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything."
Juneteenth honors the long struggle of Black Americans and reminds us that freedom is never handed down from above - it is won by ordinary people organizing together.
We’re still pushing for our collective liberation, and I will always stand in solidarity with those fighting for racial and economic justice.
Happy Juneteenth.

Last night I had the honor of joining @berniesanders and @zohrankmamdani at a huge rally for the insurgent candidates running to defeat the oligarchy and overturn the status quo. Amo Bernie has been a guiding light for our movement, proving how people-powered politics and democratic socialism can address the urgency of this moment and deliver real change. Thank you for having me on your team.
It takes all of us to win. Get out and vote by June 23rd.

Very sad to learn that Mona Khalil died after weeks in the ICU following an Israeli strike that levelled her home in Mansouri. She was a very well-known environmental activist and dedicated her life to saving endangered turtles. She stayed in the south despite Israeli strikes because of her love for the land.
She was a civilian, a renowned figure but Israel targeted her house.
CNN profiled her in 2017 here: edition.cnn.com/2017/08/17/mid…
“I live every day to the fullest and don’t worry about tomorrow,” she told the newspaper.
