@mattyglesias I grew up in Montgomery AL and you were absolutely not taught anything other than she was a little old lady whose feet hurt and she didn't want to move for the big gruff white men

I guess I went to better school because this is exactly what they taught me — it’s a brilliant case study in disciplined, strategic, non-violent action.

Jeff Blehar is *BOX OFFICE POISON*
Given that "bereted Ed Harris" is currently unavoidable on social media right now, it seems right to point out that he's a truly fantastic actor, an intensely serious 'method' guy who tosses himself into every role. I've never even seen THE TRUMAN SHOW! I know him from THE RIGHT STUFF, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, THE ABYSS, APOLLO 13, THE ROCK, POLLOCK, etc. I associate him in my mind with a certain kind of weirdly committed type you don't see much of anymore.

My son just aged out of my health insurance. Two choices for him. Pay over $1,400 a month for COBRA or Pay over $400 a month on the Health Marketplace, which is actually the least expensive plan there. Apparently, I'm going to be paying for his cell phone forever to help him out. The system is not set up to help young adults succeed. Housing unaffordable. School is unaffordable and Healthcare unaffordable and you have the guy in the White House more concerned about gold for his ballroom and blue paint for the reflecting pool. #DemsUnited

The Thomas Massie primary is truly insane. We are looking at the most expensive U.S. House primary in history, with spending pushing toward $35 million. Massie's opponent, Ed Gallrein, has raised just $2 million on his own. The rest of the money, over $14 million, is coming from outside Super PACs who desperately want Massie gone. On top of that, Pete Hegseth is being deployed to Kentucky to campaign against him. Stephen Miller & Con Inc. have been on massive Twitter tirades attacking him. And there was a highly coordinated smear campaign of unfounded allegations launched this week by Con Inc. influencers. When the establishment is willing to spend $35M+ and go to these lengths to take one man down, it really makes you wonder why. Whether you like Massie or not, this election will determine whether or not we as voters actually have a voice anymore. If outside special-interest money can successfully buy a seat and sway an election like this, we have a serious, serious problem.

@JWikson741fclz @LeaveHeardAlone 19 year old women are emotionally and mentally equivalent to a toddler. They are incapable of making their own decisions and lack the cognitive ability for self awareness. Thats why dating them is predatory. 99.99% of feminist would agree.

Henry Cavill was in a spy movie that released May 15 with an estimated production budget of between 50 and 70 million. So far it’s made only about $1 million at the box office. If James Bond cast him and pulled numbers it would be because it was Bond. Not because that creep who dated teenagers is in it.
mary morgan@maryarchived

they know henry cavill would make them the most money and they WON’T do it. the excuse on paper is that he’s too old but that just doesn’t hold up.

Remember when Demarco Jones showcased his football IQ and signaled for a fair catch during an onside kick attempt? Then just 2 plays later- Bryson Green stretched into the end zone for the score after a pass from Spencer Sanders? The first half of the 2022 season was fun.

Matthew McConaughey once exiled himself from Hollywood and lived as Mateo in Peru for 22 days without electricity. “I needed to get my feet on the ground. So I click out. Boom. Go to Peru. I needed to find it, to check the validation. I knew I had it, I just had to go prove it again. But I did question, now that I just got famous, I’ve got all this affiliation for this and that and the other, and I’m trying to decipher which part’s real, which part’s bullsh*t... I needed to meet people who knew me as Mateo. And at the end of 22 days, the tears in their eyes and the tears in my eyes and the hugs we had on the sadness and happiness of saying goodbye were all based off of the man they met named Mateo, who had nothing to do with the celebrity. It reaffirmed my own identity that, ‘Oh, I still got it. This is based on me.’” (via "No Magic Pill" podcast) variety.com/2026/film/news…

It's a shame the clerk was so devastatingly moronic because the evidence against Murdaugh is overwhelming. My fun conspiracy theory is that Murdaugh knew acquittal was a long shot and bribed the Clerk to act in a manner that would preemptively undermine a guilty verdict.

Meet the “Squatter Hunter.” His real name is Flash Shelton, and he’s gained national attention for an unconventional, and highly effective, method of dealing with squatters: he moves into the occupied homes himself and makes the squatters’ lives so miserable that they eventually leave. It all started when squatters took over his mother’s house in Northern California. Tired of waiting for the slow legal eviction process, Shelton decided to move in and turn the tables. His strategy worked. To protect himself legally, property owners sign a lease granting him the right to occupy the home. Once inside, he uses simple but relentless tactics, blasting music, taking over shared spaces, eating their food, and generally disrupting their daily comfort. He also wears tactical gear and carries non-lethal self-defense tools like pepper spray and a stun gun for protection. Thanks to his bold approach, Shelton has successfully helped return multiple properties to their rightful owners.

Let’s talk about transplant fatigue, y’all. The South is suffering from it BIG time. Why? Hundreds of thousands of folks have moved South from all over the country in the last twenty years. The result? 👉🏼A higher demand on homes/land that’s resulted in price increases and rising taxes 👉🏼Environment destruction 👉🏼Competition for local employment 👉🏼Political extremism 👉🏼Social ideology extremism 👉🏼Cultural destruction Think that’s all? It’s not. We put up with being called rednecks, hillbillies, and hicks. We wave at folks who don’t wave back. We open doors for people who don’t bother to say thank you. We pull over for funeral processions and watch folks speed through. We hear people complain about us day in and day out - in public, often in front of our children. And when we speak up, we’re called rude. It’s hinted that Southern hospitality doesn’t exist. Reality check: No one is going to go out of their way to respond to rudeness with kindness. Southerners aren’t door mats. We live by an honor code. You break that code, and we’re happy to show you our raising. Does that mean Southern hospitality doesn’t exist? Of course not. Southern hospitality is very real. But it’s reserved for people like Chef Joel. We’re kind to those who find value in our way of life and love it here. The ones who don’t want to change us. The ones who want to assimilate. If you’re offended by that, it’s not the locals who are the problem. It’s you. 💁🏼‍♀️
