@PierreVLeBrun @TheAthletic Why not just name names that should move on, like you did with the Oilers?
English

NEW for @TheAthletic, the Tampa Bay Lightning lost as close a series as they come to the young Habs. But it’s a results business and four consecutive first-round exits won’t sit well with an organization with a higher standard. Would they consider the unthinkable this off-season? ⤵️⤵️

@FabulousBS @EdmOilerlytics Savoie was either overwhelmed in his first playoff or not big enough physically. I believe he’s not built of the playoff game as this series with the Dicks was not overly physical, and he struggled.
English

@EdmOilerlytics It all depends on the return.
Savoie and Howard are small skilled forwards without much physicality in their game.
NHL trend is toward big physical wingers with skill.
I don’t think you can have a top six with 2x small wingers.
Top need is a goalie. If Howard fetched that…
English

@MikeBartner Leave for Edmonton and take Coop with you for a huge pay day 🏦
English

@frenttrederick @smaguireedm @StonyOil 99 might have some influence on that. They’re tight and hang in the summer.
English

I think I speak for all Lightning fans when I say you can’t bring Jon Cooper back if he loses tonight
Hagel, Guentzel, Point, Kucherov, Vasi, Hedman, Raddysh, Cirelli, Paul
Hard to think a new voice wouldn’t get these guys past the first round

@byterryjones I appreciate 97 and 29’s assessment. I don’t think Bowman and KK have a clue how to fix the mess they’ve constructed.
English

@nielsonTSN1260 JJ & Bowman are responsible for the offer sheets being successful, terrible extensions on Walman and Fredric, and the Jarry trade when the Oil could’ve let Stu walk this year instead of tying up $5m for 2 more seasons. They are the main reason for the org. taking a big step back.
English

@TSNRyanRishaug Aka, we’re talking to Cassidy, and waiting to see if Cooper shakes free from Tampa if the Habs eliminate them.
English

@unklebyra @nielsonTSN1260 Bowman never should’ve been a GM in the league again. He’s terrible.
English

@nielsonTSN1260 Bowman’s trade history all the way back to the Hawks is less then desirable. That Blackhawks era was built by Dale Tallon.
English

Says the guy who traded for a goalie that nobody else wanted. He’s cooked.

"We're looking for improvement in that area." Stan Bowman evaluates the Oilers’ goaltending this season.
English

The @EdmontonOilers Connor McDavid…
“I want to win…and I want to win in Edmonton”
English

@EdmontonJack Leon and Connor know the deal. They spoke about coaching throughout the year, structure, expectations of players and systems. Hopefully the very top of this organization takes note and makes changes to the decision makers that are causing the steps back in the wrong direction.
English

@PierreVLeBrun Great, now do the same shitty speculation about: Matthews, Nylander, Bédard, Pastrnak, Jack Hughes, Werenski, & every other star in a market out of the playoffs or soon to be…grab that low hanging fruit though.
English

It’s interesting that our only focus seems to be on what 97 will decide to do, whether that’s this summer or next or whenever. And it’s obviously because he only has a 2-year deal. But I mean, nothing is stopping Leon Draisaitl from asking out one day if that’s what he wanted. Not saying he will nor do I have any feeling he will. But just because he signed an 8-year deal doesn’t mean he will necessarily play it out all in Edmonton.
TSN@TSN_Sports
"I agree with Leon, the organization as a whole has taken a step back." Connor McDavid on the state of the Oilers.
English

@BleedOilBlue 💯 This narrative that 97 is leaving doesn’t exist in other markets. Why? Pasta, Matthews, Nylander, Werenski, Bedard, Sorokin, etc., could be having similar conversations.
English

I'll do what every fan base does to the Oilers see how they like it.
You know what… maybe David Pastrňák looks around and realizes Boston Bruins aren’t close to a Cup right now.
Why waste prime years? Come to the Edmonton Oilers. Play with two elite centers. 🍝
Scott McLaughlin@smclaughlin9
David Pastrnak: “Of course it’s disappointing. I’m turning 30 in a couple weeks. Had one sniff at the Cup so far. It gets harder every single year. … You don’t want to waste any opportunity.”
English

@Cory_Tucek He’s going to get the Alex Peterangelo on Draisaitl treatment from Player Safety. $5k max fine.
English

@JerryDStrong @OilAcumen By this logic you’re saying that there are 31 teams with losers on them.
English

@OilAcumen If you think being a career bridesmaid isn't "wasting" his time, then sure. At this level, you win or you lose. One goal, two goals, ten goals... doesn't matter. Close or almost is for losers.
English

@jimmathesonnhl Why is it only 97 needs to leave when the Oil are eliminated? How about 34 in TO, 98 in Chicago, 88 in Boston, etc.? This narrative is ridiculous. Until Connor comes out & says trade me, he’s an Oiler. Every interview maintains that. Quote your source or shut up.
English

I don’t think Connor would screw the Oilers by going to UFA and leaving them high and dry. Teams interested in 97 in trade would want new contract in place first before giving up assets
David Staples@dstaples
@jimmathesonnhl They can’t trade him as he has a no move clause. Why would he not just go UFA? Why harm his new team by having to give up so many assets?
English

@NHLRussell “Darnell Nurse contract is still an amazing contract” - Ken Holland probably
English

@JasonGregor Tristan Jarry buyout would roughly look like over 4 years
