At the beginning of the school yr I always have Ss draw all of the languages in their body and do some reflections. Then they make a #translanguaging plan for our classroom. Ss will draw their bodies again at the end of the school yr as well to compare. #multilingualism


When we start moving antiracist efforts at the pace and in the ways insisted upon by the people who experience racism rather than the pace and ways of the people who benefit from racism: only then have we started our racial justice journey. Everything before that is privilege.


This is why we need qualified ESL teachers doing assessments on students to determine language proficiency and needs. Many students speak an additional language or languages at home and do not actually need ESL programming. Fund qualified professionals. cbc.ca/news/canada/fi…
