@scottishmistt @MattChorley @bbc5live It’s perfectly clear . It’s a vacuous title only to give the impression the Sec of state has some non specific role between Scotland and the Cabinet . They don’t. They can however if you donate enough give your buddies a job - it’s got a title too

Bad news for Stephen Kinnock... First Minister of Wales Rhun ap Iorwerth tells me @bbc5live he thinks the role of Welsh Secretary "probably isn't" necessary. Said he would "want my ministers to be dealing with ministers in relevant departments in UK government rather than going through a Secretary of State for Wales".

@andrewjtye @MattChorley @bbc5live They for some bizarre reason still seem to think any Sec of State has Scotlands interests at heart. The evidence proves otherwise

@MattChorley @bbc5live Wonder if the SNP also think the same thing vis-a-vis Sec of State for Scotland

@scottishmistt @MattChorley @bbc5live No it’s because in Scotlands case too many see themselves as some Governor General who is a cabinet minister from Scotland not a Scottish minister in the Cabinet. It’s 2026 it’s performative nonsense and where’s England sec of State ?

@MattChorley @bbc5live This so that the Nationalists can pretend that Wales (or Scotland, as the case may be) is a sovereign state & therefore on an equal footing with the UK. Make-believe, toy-town politics. 🙄

@revconundrum It’s not ‘my thinking’.It’s the experience of living with both a U.K. Govt and a devolved one.

Rev. Rebullah McHernandez Conundrum
Imagine wasting your time commenting on Labour accounts and on BBC posts just to disparage them, is that what passes for independence support these days? No wonder NOTHING has fucking moved since 2014... I've no pity left for these monkeys, they've seen, they know, they ignore!

@revconundrum Scotland is not an Independent country. All of the above impacts us . Of course it’s in my interest to care about U.K. Governance

@revconundrum Cos when something doesn’t work, you look at why ? As for Labour, they’re one of the reasons UK Governance doesn’t work and why we are where we are. BBC, I have to pay for another service and it’s so poor

@EnglishUDI He’s opened the office you just now need to campaign for the legislation and Parliament . It’s a good idea. Leave Westminster to fight over their defence budget etc

Independent England.. Engdependence!
Burnham is UK PM but much of what he talks about is England only. We really need to separate out UK and England by having an English First Minister. Then Burnham can get on with UK matters and the English FM can be responsible for English matters!

@Alex_MacKay7 @RepublicanSons @RPMComo Which is fine except it has a massive impact on the rest of the U.K.The lack of social housing/building and life long tenancy again the rest of the U.K. got the bedroom tax, housing benefit freeze, again the rest of the U.K. is impacted. Even Londoners who grew up there can’t.

@Alex_MacKay7 @RepublicanSons @RPMComo Why is the South housing market so skewed ? Why is the Souths water not fit to drink ? Why is the south frying year on year and what you going to do about all of the above ? Rely on the regions and nations to contribute for the private companies you’ll employ to deal with it ?

@RepublicanSons @RPMComo About half right, yes the North of England runs at a deficit and zeros out the SE surplus. The Scotch just make it worse by running at a deficit as well. The better question is why does the SE run a surplus and shouldn't Scotland try to the same?

@RepublicanSons @Alex_MacKay7 @RPMComo Is that not the point of all this devo to ‘the regions’? Build up your economy, send it to the Treasury and they get to ‘redistribute’ it on what they decide ? Then troll you for what they see as failure ?

How do we explain the contradiction between Burnham’s enthusiastic championing of devolution and the deep devo-scepticism of his territorial Secretaries? ✍️Richard Wyn Jones wp.me/p8Mk4U-1pS1

@msm_monitor @Gods_Dice The danger is that by giving money directly to Councillors it will mean different outcomes across Scotland. The last thing we need is to return to the dark days where Councillors decided who gets what and finds etc not evenly divided

Monica Lennon was parroting the 'More devolution isn't about power from Westminster, it's about moving power out of Holyrood' line on BritNat Breakfast this morning. Every BBC BritNat interview is about pushing this new line. There's no scrutiny of policy or past pledges. Tax, GB Energy, welfare. Nothing.

@larson07 @dimenpsyonal Except that can be done within a unified census anyways National census data is still usually shown by subdivion, like states in the US, or Provinces in Canada Scotland doesn't need to have its own dedicated census for that purpose

Sorry but there is NO good reason for Scotland to run their own census. It's not like data works differently in Scotland, all it does is make compiling data more difficult
