We all have some sort of gift. A talent. A skill. A superpower. That the world needs to see. Yet the world is not giving us the resources to be exponential. A new health hero is needed.

today is my 34th bday very timely given just the other day i thought for a moment that i was about to die here's my obligatory unsolicited life reflection post (as is social media tradition): life has been good this year, substantially better than previous years and I was reflecting on why given I didn't get rich, I've mostly been working all the time, and I'm still single. it seems as though there are actually only a few kinds of truly "life changing" experiences: - discovering meaningful work - something to spend your time doing that is so engaging and value aligned that it brings you immense joy - getting healthy - going from unhealthy or average health to great health can have a dramatically positive impact on virtually every aspect of your life. - finding "your people" - becoming close friends with an engaged group of people that you deeply admire and that reflect your values and interests. - starting a family - the easiest way to create meaning in life seems to be to have a child - having a spiritual awakening - two main ways I've seen this happen is through catastrophic tragedy like the loss of a loved one (or near-tragedy like terminal diagnoses or near-death experiences) or plant medicine notably missing is becoming wealthy - I worked on the Google M&A team with a lot of acquired founders who became really wealthy and none said it truly changed their lives. what seems to have been most true for me this year is that I've started doing the most meaningful work of my life. I've never felt so fulfilled, stimulated and bullish working on anything else. beyond that I've also got into the best physical shape of my life after discovering crossfit, which was a kind of two-for-one because it also helped me find community and friendships beyond the few I had moving to NYC alone. I have also been going deeper down various spiritual rabbit holes, meditating daily for now 144 days and reading lots of relevant books, but fortunately my life has been free from tragedy - though going the ER a few nights ago did make me think. grateful for this past trip around the sun. here's to many more.
