Which was historically done so that kids would be home during the late summer and early autumn to help on the fields.

@ToujoursADroite @reaverxai @isa2001m Unpopular opinion, but I found it to be so much more pleasant and relaxed to drive 100 km/h on the dutch highways. In Germany, you have to constantly pay attention if someone slow pulls out in front of you while driving in the fast lane. Much more stressful.

This driver was incorrect. If the cars in both the lanes merge at one point, it's going to be chaotic and the traffic build up will anyways happen. So merging much earlier is actually better.
Besides, If one of the car in the right lane has an emergency, they can easily get out. If both the lanes are full, the cars in the right lane win find it difficult to move out.

This guy is using the left hand lane , which is open. There is a mile long backup and everyone is over in the right hand lane.
He drives all the way up until he has to merge.
Some people are saying what a jerk he is for not getting in line like everyone else, but a great many people are saying that the cars in the right lane merged into one lane too soon and that if they had used the left lane, instead of being a mile backup it would have been a half a mile backup.
What’s your take? Do you think he was correct in using the left lane and merging up at the front or should he have merged right and got in line way in the back like everyone else?

Germany offers one year paid parental leave, 2 years unpaid, almost fully subsidized daycare, 260 per month per child etc. and this has done nothing for the birth rate.

Im Vergleich zu 2024 sank die Geburtenzahl um weitere 3,4 Prozent. Das Geburtendefizit (Sterbefälle minus Geburten) erreichte mit 352.000 den höchsten Stand seit Kriegsende. Es ist das vierte Tief in Folge.

@Wernochgleich @Porkchop_EXP That's not a sign of a problem, though. Germany just has a high percentage of renters, it has been that way ever since the war ended and cities were re-built. Renting is a secure and permanent way of living. There's still a housing shortage, but it has nothing to do with renting.
