@zeeg TUIs > GUIs precisely because of their limits. You can only fit so much on screen. no room to cram dropdowns and panels into uselessness.

a CLI is a utility, and situational. this should not be confused with stuffing a full interactive GUI into a low capability platform.

I was planning to use UUIDs to represent the databases we have on the @tursodatabase Cloud. I got a bit worried that we would perhaps run out of UUIDs. I just double-checked and I think we'll be fine for the next year or so.
Will use UUIDs for now, and if needed, rearchitect later.

Skinny controller → fat service object → bloated models (with unrelated columns - great summary in the article 👌) → accidental concerns (i like your phrasing here - we lack rails guidance)
And I don’t like this.

I've been pushing pretty hard on Prism performance lately (both parser and CRuby compiler), and I'm really happy with where we are now.
I'll put some highlights in the thread, but the headline is that on master Prism is now ~40% faster and uses ~30% less memory than parse.y.

Refactoring used to be often overlooked, especially in time-pressured environments, because it was tedious and time-consuming.
With AI, you can now refactor larger portions of a codebase into a coherent and consistent design with far less pain. This is something I’ve really enjoyed lately.

i think i still get the good feelings from programming even when using AI because i'm constantly refactoring i'll have it do a first pass and i'll look at it and think of a way to reduce it to less code that is more beautiful both fun and effective

Turns out with claude code, my decades long strategy of NOT deeply learning:
- regexs
- sql
- nginx confs
- elaborate shell commands
- advanced shell scripting
- any javascript framework
- perf optimization
- webpack, cdns, bundlers
- 1000 other things
...was entirely correct.
