Acaban de enterrar 10 años de cómo se arman los equipos tech.
Brian Armstrong@brian_armstrong

This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. Increasing economic freedom requires a new financial system, and we’re building it. The Coinbase that emerges from this will be more capable than ever to achieve our mission. Brian

TL;DR for open-source maintainers 🚫 NEVER use "pull_request_target" workflows 🚫 NEVER use shared caches in your publish pipeline Combining these 2 in particular is extremely dangerous I've repeated this countless times over the years, but another reminder is always useful

TANSTACK@tan_stack

SECURITY ADVISORY — TanStack npm packages A supply-chain compromise affecting 42 @tanstack/* packages (84 versions total) was published to npm earlier today at approximately 19:20 and 19:26 UTC. Two malicious versions per package. Status: ACTIVE — packages are deprecated, npm security engaged, publish path being shut down. Severity: HIGH — payload exfiltrates AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and Vault credentials, GitHub tokens, .npmrc contents, and SSH keys. If you installed any @tanstack/* package between 19:20 and 19:30 UTC today, treat the host as potentially compromised: • Rotate cloud, GitHub, and SSH credentials immediately • Audit cloud audit logs for the last several hours • Pin to a prior known-good version and reinstall from a clean lockfile Detection — the malicious manifest contains: "optionalDependencies": { "@tanstack/setup": "github:tanstack/router#79ac49ee..." } Any version with this entry is compromised. The payload is delivered via a git-resolved optionalDependency whose prepare script runs router_init.js (~2.3 MB, smuggled into each tarball at the package root). Unpublish is blocked by npm policy for most affected packages due to existing third-party dependents. All 84 versions are being deprecated with a SECURITY warning, and npm security has been engaged to pull tarballs at the registry level. Full technical breakdown, complete package and version list, and rolling status updates: github.com/TanStack/route… Credit to the security researcher for responsible disclosure.

🚨 UPDATE: Mini Shai-Hulud has crossed from @npmjs into @pypi and is still spreading. Newly confirmed compromised artifacts: @opensearch-project/opensearch: 3.5.3, 3.6.2, 3.7.0, 3.8.0 (1.3M weekly downloads) mistralai: 2.4.6 on PyPI guardrails-ai: 0.10.1 on PyPI additional @squawk/* packages on npm guardrails-ai 0.10.1 executes malicious code on import. On Linux, it downloads git-tanstack[.]com/transformers.pyz, writes it to /tmp/transformers.pyz, and runs it with python3 without integrity verification. The git-tanstack.com domain displayed a message signed “With Love TeamPCP,” along with: “We've been online over 2 hours now stealing creds Regardless I just came to say hello :^)” The page also linked to a YouTube video and you can probably guess which one.

🚨 How the TanStack npm attack actually happened: 1. Attacker opened a normal-looking pull request (#7378) on the TanStack repo. 2. GitHub automatically ran CI tests on that PR. 3. Code inside the PR stole the workflow's GitHub Actions Cache write token during the test run. 4. The attacker used that token to plant poisoned files in the shared build cache. The PR could be closed afterwards. The poisoned cache stays. 5. The official release workflow later pulled from the cache, baked the malicious files into the build, and signed and published 84 malicious package versions to npm.

This attack leveraged GitHub Actions Cache Poisoning. Payload deployed here: github.com/TanStack/route… It looks like it detonated here: #step:26:2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/TanStack/route…

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

Silly story: When applying to Bungie for my first role, Player Support, one of the questions related to an issue test had to figure out during Halo: Reach era. When performing a sequence of actions, the game would stop appearing on screen. They asked what troubleshooting steps I’d go through to figure the problem. Ran through the usual console centric steps. Turn it off and back on, is repro 100%, is disc scratched, is disc reader the problem… Next up was tv. Again turn off and on, check cables. Does this happen when watching cable? Etc Step I missed was… checking the firmware on the damn TV. Took a while for them to pinpoint. Story I was told that they had to reach out to the manufacturer and get things sorted back then. That lesson actually helped a ton when trying to figure why players in specific countries (ex: Italy) were getting error codes at D2 launch back in 2017 - turned out some modem/router combos that cable companies were handing out would cut off connection after some time playing. Thousands of players were hammering the forums with the reports. Colleagues had to get the hardware shipped to the studio to actually repro the issue and move towards some fixes with the company and the game. Growing up with simple TVs/consoles that basically had nothing more than an on/off switch, it still trips me up when modern tech has random features that can interact awkwardly with consoles/pcs/games.

Basta con viajar en avión e ir a otro país para entender que hay países con cultura diferente y quisiéramos lo mejor de ellos para nuestro país. Creo que debe de bastar el ir al espacio y entender que solo existe un planeta habitable y tener armonía entre todos.
