@buggy_ridge @Bradleychoquet2 Note that OpenOffice has old and unfixed security issues and is strongly not recommended for production use: #Security" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Op… – But there are properly maintained and fixed successor projects (like ours), still free and open source of course.

@Bradleychoquet2 I'm my own broker, agronomist and engineer. USDA gave me numerous hats to wear in 31 years. Most fun was construction and surveying. Spend at least an hour each morning going over budgets and scenarios. Using software and spreadsheets from: office.org/en/openoffice/

Too many producers use hope as a marketing strategy. A plan (preferably written, thats on file with your broker, and originators) works better.

OpenOffice is free and does everything Microsoft does. Tubi is free for the cost of a few ads. DaVinci has a free version of their editor that's decent. Spotify is free for the cost of a few ads. Everything is only a subscription if you don't look for an alternative.
Lazzyyyyyy@em_Lazzy

You know what really bugs me these days? We can't own anything. Everything is a subscription service, like literally everything. You can't buy Microsoft Office, you have to purchase a subscription for a year. You literally have to pay for everything FOREVER. Isn't anyone else bothered by this?

@tbmichael @heavensbvnny Linux distros haven't shipped OpenOffice for years, due to lack of development and unfixed security problems: #Security" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Op… – They all moved 10 years ago to LibreOffice, the actively maintained (and fixed) successor project.

@heavensbvnny It's your choices that own you. OpenOffice is free. You donate what you want to donate. There is an entire world of software out these like that. If you must have Photoshop, you pay subscription. Gimp does the job for free.

@heavensbvnny Enshittification! I opted out. I listen to music I own at home. I don't stream shows - I watch free stuff in different places. I listen to free podcasts in the car or gym. I create text files in markdown and use pandoc to output .docx and .pdf files. Or use free OpenOffice.

@kiare_bordeaux What operating system are you using? And can you give examples of words not being recognised? On Linux distros, the spell checker is usually provided by the distro and is beyond our control...

Been using @LibreOffice Writer a few weeks now after switching to Linux. The spellcheck doesn't make sense on random, common words, like 'realtor' and 'Rebecca', says they're misspelled. Confirmed I'm set to English (USA) and have all default dictionaries active.🤷‍♂️
