@mercurialsarah My boss is always warning me with the words “you need to remember how influential you are” — as he begs me not to vocalize my opinions on certain matters at work

English

@lim3light_ @GAltringham Absolutely. By now it's very well known. However, TRUE 'cinephiles' knownhe was in the scifi masterpiece "Them," fighting giant, mutated ants!!

@GoAskAlice67 @GAltringham Right, between that and the home video market - Everyone knew this movie. I disagree with the notion that “only cinephiles” would remember.
English

@lim3light_ @GAltringham It actually DIDN'T do that well in theaters...it as when it started being shown on tv (especially TNT which ran marathons, I think) that it caught on?

She is my whimsy inspiration. I aspire to also still be wearing butterfly hair clips at 40 while exuding happy feminine energy🦋🌸💕
nicole@marinasbbitch
she looked so gorgeous please

@virtualmage17 I still need to play through this. Never got past the third dungeon or so. I need to commit!
I fell in love with “links awakening” firstly, so this game always felt a bit secondary/repetitive to that.

@PopBase haaa this is what my son (13) asked for his birthday last month. I got him a modded one with the improved/backlit screen.

A railway company in Japan once ran out of money to pay a stationmaster. So they gave the job to the cat who lived outside the station. She wore a custom made hat, worked for cat food, and saved the entire line.
Her name was Tama. She was a calico cat who had spent her days sitting near the entrance of Kishi Station in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, greeting passengers anyway. When the company destaffed the station in 2006 to cut costs, the president visited to discuss what to do about the stray cats living nearby. He looked into Tama's eyes and later said they conveyed a sense of purpose as strong as any of his employees.
He made her stationmaster.
Within a month passenger numbers rose by seventeen percent. People began travelling from across Japan just to see her. Tourists arrived from other countries. A French documentary crew came to film her. The station was eventually rebuilt in the shape of a cat's face.
In her eight years as stationmaster Tama contributed an estimated one billion yen to the local economy. She was promoted four times. She eventually held the title of Honorary President of the railway. The only female in a senior position in the entire company.
When she passed away in 2015 over three thousand people attended her funeral. She was given the posthumous title Honorary Eternal Stationmaster and enshrined at a nearby Shinto shrine as a goddess.
The position of stationmaster at Kishi Station is still held by a cat today.

@feross I got f*cking paged about this last night, in the middle of band practice (ruined/a wash), spent over an hour identifying and blocking the destinations that the compromised software tries to call back to.

🚨 Breaking: Trivy GitHub Actions supply chain attack – 75 out of 76 version tags compromised.
If your CI/CD pipelines reference “aquasecurity/trivy-action” by version tag, you’re likely running malware right now.
At Socket, we identified that an attacker force-pushed nearly every version tag in the official aquasecurity/trivy-action repository. That’s @0.0.1 all the way through @0.34.2. Over 10,000 GitHub workflow files reference this action.
The malicious payload runs silently before the legitimate Trivy scan, so nothing looks broken. Meanwhile it’s:
- Dumping runner process memory to extract secrets
- Harvesting SSH keys
- Exfiltrating AWS, GCP, and Azure credentials
- Stealing Kubernetes service account tokens
The only unaffected tag right now appears to be @0.35.0.
Socket independently detected this at 19:15 UTC and generated 182 threat feed entries tied to this campaign – all correctly classified as Backdoor, Infostealer, or Reconnaissance malware.
This is the second Trivy compromise this month. Earlier in March, attackers injected code into the Aqua Trivy VS Code extension on OpenVSX to abuse local AI coding agents.
The compromised tags are still active. Pin to @0.35.0 or use a SHA reference until this is fully remediated.

Most likely not going to have more children even though I feel like being a dad is my first/best job and most natural talent. Even if I did fall into love again with someone who wants children (or more children), at this point I am probably too old and my health is too precarious. I worry about not living long enough to be the influence I’d want to be.
The world is surely troubled as well (a bit scary to say the least), but if humans stopped having babies during bad times - There would be no humans.

@ThrillaRilla369 I got $5 a week on sundays. In exchange I was never to complain when asked to put away dishes, vacuum the stairs, or do the dusting (my least favorite).

my dad has one of the worst cases of adhd I’ve ever seen & this rings so true for me. I’ve watched my entire life how my mom has managed it behind the scenes to minimize impact. If she wasn’t there he 100% would have destroyed his life. I can’t tell you the number of times he’s left the stove on, lost important documents, lost keys, left doors wide open, left iron on, started fires, etc. When my mom isn’t there, I take over for her & have had to curb disaster an ungodly number of times😅
IVY@Iamivy05
the reason they thought people outgrew ADHD is that they were studying men, and when men got married, their wives took over the load of executive functioning, making sure they ate and had clean clothes to wear and made it out the door on time. that’s how invisible women’s labor is!

@all90saltrock Loved this band so much (their 90s albums), but I’m weird in that my favorite is “happiness is not a fish that you can catch”

There’s this misconception that being “spiritual” implies one is this very harmonious, balanced, peaceful, person…
Most “spiritual” people are fighting demons, are constantly tested, possess strange wisdoms gained through trauma & suffering, and/or have high functioning neuroticisms that allow for hypersensory perception. Being intuitive in itself comes with a heavy mental heath burden.

@cantbesilentcal @LPNH Rhode Island is like that too. I hate the paper straw.

I was living in the Boston suburbs and taking the train or driving into the city for school at that point.
I know right — To this day it is hard to get rid of them because of the story and because they were gifts. I still have like four of them. I think my shenanigans-loving roommate may have arranged it somehow.
