If we ultimately make it off the planet in any significant numbers and duration, people will eventually assume the garden of Eden story was written as an allegory about Earth.

Excited to announce our tutorial: "Future of Work in the Age of LLMs" at #ACL2026 in San Diego, July 2! 🌴 There's a lot of speculation about AI and the future of human work. Our tutorial unpacks it from four angles: → The landscape of human work → How to build LLMs to augment real-world workflows → How to evaluate these LLMs → The future of work with LLMs/LLM-based agents

i just finished teaching for computer science seniors. last time i taught this course, it was titled , it was pre-ChatGPT and it was pre-pandemic. in other words, i taught this course in the old world, and i was suddenly asked to teach this course in this brave new world. it was an amazing experience, and i want to share a quick thought about my experience teaching an introductory machine learning course in this new era of industralized software engineering. the link to the blog is in a reply.

Super excited to join the 2026 cohort of @KnightHennessy scholars! Has been incredible talking to the other scholars about the major problems they are tackling across healthcare, science, policy, etc. Excited to work towards Human-Centered Open-Source AI that can support people tackling the world's biggest challenges!

Today we're sharing our work on interaction models. A new class of model trained from scratch to handle real-time interaction natively, instead of gluing it onto a turn-based one. youtu.be/A12AVongNN4

Tokens are not a universal unit of data. In our new work on Compute Optimal Tokenization, we show that when adapting scaling recipes across tokenizers, bytes are the more stable unit. And the compute-optimal compression rate is not necessarily what today’s BPE tokenizers use.
Tomasz Limisiewicz@TomLimi

We present Compute Optimal Tokenization! 🔡 Common in LLM scaling works stick to one tokenizer, sweeping data/model size. But what happens when we control the tokenizer’s compression rate (bytes/token)? Here we sweep tokenizers, params, and data across compute budgets: [1/N]

New paper! allenai.org/papers/olmpool This tackles a puzzle we found during the training of Olmo 3: how could two models with nearly identical short-context performance (and trained on the same data!) behave completely differently after long context extension?
Ai2@allen_ai

Recipes for teaching language models to handle long inputs don't work equally well across model families. We wanted to know why—is it the architecture, the training data, or both? 🧵

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

Most of today's AI can see the world, but it doesn’t **feel** it. Capturing the sense of touch is crucial for dexterous robotic manipulation, user modeling, and understanding physical interactions. Introducing OpenTouch: bringing full-hand tactile sensing into real-world AI🖐️ OpenTouch is collected in-the-wild using tactile sensing gloves, hand pose tracking gloves, and egocentric glasses. It includes: • 5 hours of real-world data, • 3 hours densely annotated contact-rich interactions, • 2,900 curated interaction clips, • across 800 objects, 14 environments, and 29 grasp types. all open at: opentouch-tactile.github.io
