Another note regarding Brooklyn’s selection of Egor Dëmin:
The only player selected after him that even garners consideration to take him above Dëmin in a re-draft is Cedric Coward. Coward is also going to be 23-years old before the start of next season and was nowhere near as good of a basketball player as Dëmin when he was Dëmin’s age.
Just to highlight that development takes time and we shouldn’t jump to conclusions on anyone after just one season, Khaman Maluach — despite his quiet rookie year — is the only other player I’d consider over Dëmin.
The Nets’ slip in the lottery was disappointing but the selection of Dëmin has been an early success.

For some reason it has become trendy (again) for some national media types to hate on the 2025 Nets draft class recently. It’s almost like because Egor Dëmin has been injured, people have forgotten about how solid his rookie season was. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess. Dëmin is surely in the running for an All-Rookie team and would probably be a lock if he didn’t get hurt.

I’m happy with 2025 Draft. What’s a “franchise building block?” Nets had picks at 8, 19, 22, 26 & 27. If anyone thought Nets were getting multiple finished products when them all top 4 picks were among 20 youngest players in league, they need to go back to NBA finishing school.

Admittedly, Keaton Wagler has been one of my more puzzling evaluations this season. He’s clearly a good player. But how will his frame fill out? He plays tough, but does he have enough when it comes to scoring in the paint? If his best shot is a step-back three, does he do enough when his shot isn’t falling? I do buy his upside as a potential big guard who can really play on the ball, and that’s what’s kept a high grade for me. But I’ve gone back and forth about the highest outcomes in relation to the other guards he’s competing against in this draft.

I’ve also been in on this for a while. Think it would limit the tanking to a smaller number of teams and give a better chance at actually getting talent to the teams who need it.

My not-at-all-hot take is that this is bad & they should unflatten the lotto odds (& probably go to reverse order) It's quite unfair the worst team has an avg draft position of 3.7 (14% chance at #1) while the 8th worst team isn't that far back (7.0 avg pick + 6% chacne for #1)
