The rebrand to X makes sense when you consider that @elonmusk overpaid for Twitter and the platform itself isn't fundamentally profitable This isn't about rebranding Twitter, it's about building something new/different on top of an existing user base The challenge is they rebranded the platform before they rebuilt the product So it's all going to come down to whether the value provided by X can match the vision, overcoming objection from a user base that never intentionally signed up for it in the first place To be fair, it's not all that different from the original Twitter transformation out of a podcasting platform from Odeo Albeit just on a demonstrably larger stage
