@ngriffin_uk @soupydev @steipete I wonder if you guys have ever taken a look at bun's source, because you ignore once again that bun has excellent test coverage, which is not "trust me bro validation".
English

@lowfry @soupydev @steipete i said properly and someones definition of properly may be different, it is perfectly fine if you’re all good with trust me bro validation, keep going as you are.
its also fine and expected that maintainers want something more than that.
if you dont like it, hit the fork button

This seems more ideological than technical.

yt-dlp plans to drop support for Bun Reason: it is vibe-coded

@bygregorr @YoavCodes Tauri has unfortunately tons of driver and lib bugs, and issues with AppImage on Linux.
English

@YoavCodes rust been "first class" in tauri since 2019. works great until it doesn't ship.
English

Electrobun 2.0 will also be decoupled from Bun due to the rust rewrite.
It’s a combination of anthropic’s stance of not doing human reviews or any kind of rational roll out and stabilization.
Rust is great though, Electrobun 2.0 will have first class support for rust, zig, go, and more.

yt-dlp support of Bun is now deprecated, citing the rewrite to Rust being "vibe coded" and issues surrounding supply chain attacks
English

@ngriffin_uk @soupydev @steipete hey wrote the code to begin with, and you think they wouldn't be able to review a rewrite? Lol
English

@Hawful @niieani @hd_nvim Well, calling C code is inherently unsafe, it's the reason why other runtimes like Deno also have many unsafe blocks.
And at the same time the Rust port isn't even done yet! They will probably look into the unsafe calls, because why wouldn't they? You judge too early.

- Mietendeckel abschaffen
- Baumamt und Bürokratie massiv zurück fahren
- viel schneller Baugenehmigungen erteilen
- Bauvorschriften extrem reduzieren
Kurosch D. Habibi@KDHabibi
Mietendeckel wird es lösen. 🤝

@Hawful @niieani @hd_nvim Why do you think the port is not written sensibly for that language? Do you see more OOMs, segfaults and bugs than with the Zig version? Do you find the code inelegant?
(P.s. the port hasn't even landet yet, yet you and ytdlp already have strong opinions about the result lol)
English

@lowfry @niieani @hd_nvim Fun use of the word 'developed', Bun was acquired by Anthropic in December of last year. The bulk of the development was already done.
I don't care what language anything is written in as long as it's written sensibly for that language. The rust 'port' is not an example of this.
English

@Hawful @niieani @hd_nvim Bun is developed by Anthropic, Anthropic is an AI company, and AI companies make money through selling tokens.
Zig banned all kinds of LLMs from the project; why should an AI company "hype up" a niche language which doesn't like AI? Tbh I understand why they explore a Rust port.

i'm strongly against model companies focusing too much on harness, but i would love to hear if anyone has a strong argument for it
my reason against it:
if openai didn't build GPT 5.5, no one else can. this is their core competence
if openai didn't build codex cli and app, we have opencode and t3code. building harness is NOT their core competence
this is not saying products like claude code, codex aren't good - i genuinely think these are top tier products built by really talented people
my point is - the world might be a better place if model companies focus more on their core capability and give us better, faster, safer and cheaper models, rather than competing with the ecosystem in the application layer
what do you think?
Greg Brockman@gdb
the model alone is no longer the product

@0D7P7 @thsottiaux @charliermarsh I don't think it's a good idea because attention is not free, and at some point the transformer does not know which token to attend to bc signal/noise ratio becomes worse and then you get "context rot". Compacting seems like the better solution, no?
English

@thsottiaux @charliermarsh And 1M token context window... Pleaseeee tell me is gonna be soon.

@geynosha I have the same problem in Germany – parcel deliveries that require a German number, postal (DHL) apps that require a German app store account, customer service numbers that you can't call from an international phone

@aboutberlin imo the best thing you can do is to implement some kind of tool or community which can't be replicated by AI.
Focus on tools like these: allaboutberlin.com/tools/rent-map
Honestly, that map could become a main project, connected to immoscout or whatever. Just my 2c.
