@breki74 I have done that too, and later even ASM from the 8085 ISA, at the school, exercises and exams were done on paper. :)

@ProgramMax @lauriewired I have done exactly this, on an old laptop that I use exclusively for gaming. You can disable Intel's microcode patch on Ubuntu, easily.

I feel like this might be a question for @lauriewired Suppose I am running my own local server. I might not want microcode updates that slow down my CPU. The mitigation is a non-issue here. And suppose one CPU is just perfect for my specific case. Market for non-updated CPUs??

@mitchellh @brunoluiz This is funny, because that was the way my legacy java software dodged the log4shell hell. It was using an ancient log4j version, that didn't use jndi at all, so it was completely immune :)

@brunoluiz No it doesn't, you fix the CVE out of band. Most times though, you're not affected because you're on a version so old or you're not even using that code path and you cut it out.

Fork your dependencies, trim them to only your use case, never update unless it breaks for your users. I’ve been vocal about this for 10+ years. I’ve always said that updating is way riskier than latent bugs (which can be tracked and CVEs monitored). If you are updating a dependency, it’s on you to analyze every single commit in the full transitive set of dependencies. If you dont see anything compelling, dont update! I remember at HashiCorp once in awhile an engineer would try to update a dep or replace a DIY lib with an external one and id always ask “show me the commit we need.” Dont update for the sake of it. Feeling pretty swell about this mentality with all the supply chain attacks happening.

@PlanetaSinclair De repente parecia que estava a ver um simulador de circuitos, tipo o pspice, ou o everycircuit 😅. Afinal é um jogo. Embora devam haver simuladores de circuitos para o ZX Spectrum...

@pmddomingos We can observe what extensive mobile usage has done to our children, and this happened during brain development. They become dumber where focus is needed, but on the other hand, they can operate better on shallow multitasking.

@pmddomingos That's a good question. I think it will change it, basically. The brain and its neuroplasticity ensures this adaptation, sure we can become dumber in some knowledge areas, but we start to operate on other higher (or lower) levels.

@Youkhna @MinimalCompany I love that phone. Unfortunately I have already bought a new phone to replace my old device. I chose a TLC NXTPAPER, it mimics an e-ink display pretty well, but it's not the real thing, also the work they did on android helps, but again, it's a long shot from what I desire.

@aitrendz_xyz It's interesting observing that these AI videos are visually almost perfect, but they tend to violate the most basic physics principles.

Worth noting: openSUSE’s change to forbid teenagers from reading openSUSE documentation… was put in place on March 10th of this year. And, according to the Wiki history, this change was “reviewed” by: - Chioma Benjamin (SUSE’s Vice President Divisional General Counsel) and - Luboš Kocman (SUSE release manager) In other words: This openSUSE policy change was put in place by SUSE corporate, with the involvement of SUSE’s legal counsel VP.

The openSUSE Linux project has updated their "Terms of Site" to prohibit anyone under the age of 16 from browsing any website hosted by openSUSE (including documentation and software repositories). "By using this site, you represent that you are at least 16 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction." This rule would prohibit High School computer clubs, and any other minors from researching or using openSUSE Linux.
