It’s not complicated. Open the system and let MLS either sell their teams out of closed league captivity, continue to play as a circus chain of outlets, or become a the real estate company they already are. #ProRelForUSA
Simon Evans@sgevans

With the 'richest game in football' at Wembley tomorrow - the question of if/when the USA will get pro-rel returns to mind. Despite what some may suggest - its complicated. thesoccerbusiness.com/pro-rel-for-us…

@Chicago2100 I was told in a different city that the height limit exists for the sightline of car drivers. Can't wait for life after cars

@bikelakecity @TaylorWAnderson Why not this? It would take some engineering to make a transfer station at Simpson and Highland (Cinemark), but it could be done. Then you can have stations at SGH Plaza and the Park

S-Line construction is finally underway. Project manager says the bulk of construction, including closure of Highland, will take place this summer, with system work later this year and into next year ahead of a 2027 launch of service. #slc

@soy_sauce97 Never change, dream weaver. The "fiscally constrained" project is the only one UTA will ever build...unless it's the gondola or another coming straight from capitol hill. Thus, we get mediocre at best transit design.

In a round of transit planning, in a moment of insanity, I realized I could fix the TRAX Red Line and the future Orange Line by looking into one big project... building a light rail tunnel from 400 West to Stadium Station. It takes care of elevation and capacity simultaneously

@TaylorWAnderson In theory, the adjacent redevelopments are going to be transit oriented and there’s an argument to be made for the benefit of visibility, plus improved access to the shopping center. But I agree this appears to build us into a corner and sacrifice future extension

@alexlubyansky_ USSF can create pro-rel, and all the benefits that come with it, with the strike of a pen.

A simple fix. No legislation. No federation approval. Stop calling things what they are not. Amateur club is an amateur club. Professional league where Americans make poverty wages is an amateur league. #USMNT #MeritOverMoney

@brianschatz Or, you can win with a minority in an anti-democratic system, like the Rs have been doing. Electoral college, Senate, no national referendum

@saltcityfc Great, more franchises. This time, franchises of franchises. How about pro/rel so we get investment in actual local clubs? @ussoccer

“The new company, Hometown Soccer Holdings, plans to move Next Pro teams that are affiliated with MLS clubs to nearby mid-sized markets, where the firm will facilitate the construction of multipurpose stadiums with roughly 6,000-8,000 seats.” 👀
Alex M. Silverman🏒⚽️@AlexMSilverman

Breaking: @MLS is forming a joint venture with PE firm @KKR_Co that will centralize commercial rights for most MLS Next Pro teams. The new venture, Hometown Soccer Holdings, plans to relaunch many of the development teams in new markets. More at @SBJ. sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2026/…

@MattDoyle76 Doyle, thanks. It's the franchise model that does this, with a closed league and valuations based on expansion fees. It's structurally F'd. I say this with love: start advocating for pro-rel or your professional commitment to MLS may seem like a waste of your time and talent.

high rises are lovable feats of engineering and one of the greatest expressions of urban vitality by contrast, the bloated apartment buildings atop massive parking podiums. These are the execrable byproduct of anti-scientific building codes and archaic zoning regulations that kill fine-grained development in our neighborhoods

@THEChrisKessell A crock of shiz. Artificial scarcity based in expansion fees and a closed league. US Soccer could change this with a stroke of a pen = pro/rel.

No viable offers. What exactly does that mean? Nothing that let's them make a 10x, 20x, or 50x on the purchase price of $40m? I struggle to believe that NOBODY wants to buy it.
Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

Vancouver Whitecaps' owners say their "strong preference" is to remain in Vancouver. However, a potential move to Las Vegas has been seriously explored, as @tombogert and @PaulTenorio first reported. The club confirm "well-documented structural challenges around stadium economics, venue access, and revenue limitations that have made it difficult to attract buyers committed to keeping the team in Vancouver." Whitecaps add over the past 16 months they have spoken to over 100 parties with "no viable offer" to keep the club in Vancouver.🇨🇦

Today in nonsense from across the Atlantic: The MLS are proposing to move the Vancouver Whitecaps "franchise" to Las Vegas. Honestly, do the Americans realise this is exactly the sort of reason that no-one takes their league seriously?
