Ying to the Yang of @HallAnnie . I ride a bike, write code, go to gigs and take photos. Sometimes I try to combine these. Lens man for @Folkroom records

@DavidJaques10 @RichardWellings Or, hear me out here because it's controversial... maybe teach people to look up from their phones for 2 seconds to look both ways before stepping out in front of moving traffic? just a thought...

@carlafrancome But what if the safe/quiet route? North of Finsbury Park is just a desert for safe cycling. Wightman Road is possibly more intimidating than Green Lanes and I know I’ve had more close passes taking that route.

My friend Rachel came to visit today - cycling from Islington to Bounds Green. “The quick route was DREADFUL” she says, shuddering. “Yes my friend, that is GREEN LANES”, I replied. “AKA a sh*tshow for cycling”. I wonder how many people experience it for the first … 1/3

@carlafrancome It will be interesting to see how Labour and the Lib Dems approach opposition. Will they team up to block Greens implementing pledges

@Flap62 @sharrond62 Are you sure? I think World Athletics would have something to say about that. But you have highlighted the difference between Parkrun and competitive elite athletics.

@sharrond62 The absurdity is that Sawe could declare himself a woman tomorrow, run another marathon setting a new woman’s world record that could never be beaten and yet these clapping seals for trans inclusion would insist we have to respect the new record. Madness

Can you imagine how quickly it would be stopped by these same outraged men if women could ride bikes & record fastest male in a running activity? Strange how it’s just ‘fun’ when unfairness only affects women. History shows us men do not accept unfairness in their events, ever

@PaulaCoyscot @tedsanders53 If you do that then your know your position because as you cross the finish line you are given a token with a finish position on it. This is currently the only way to map timings to runners.

@tedsanders53 I get you, I do, I just don’t see why they can’t just put up a list of all the numbers of the runners and their times, this *best* thing is irritating. Ppl can look up their personal time and use it how they wish.

ParkRun needs to remove its ranking tables, I’ve said this all along. Ppl can record their own times if they want to see improvement in their fitness or arrange groups themselves to race. It isn’t conducive with their ethos anyway to celebrate athletes who participate.

@luptonn @TFerTrog @sharrond62 @jwhitey98 Jesus Christ, Nige, you're a bit full of your own self importance. Just scan the code, you're not an Olympic judge. If you don't know the difference between a man and a women, you're in serious trouble.

And now they come for Parkrun. PARKRUN. Threatening community run events with legal action cannot possibly be part of protecting women’s sport. For these campaigners, the only thing that seems to matter is the erasure of the trans community from public life.
Telegraph Sport@TelegraphSport

🔴 Parkrun and nine sports bodies have been threatened with legal action by Sharron Davies over their refusal to ban those born male from their female categories. Letters seen by Telegraph Sport have been co-signed by Baroness Davies and Tracy Edwards MBE telegraph.co.uk/sport/2026/04/…

@luptonn @sharrond62 @jwhitey98 Do you currently verify people's age categories? Do you check if people had the right barcode and they haven't picked up a family member's? No, you rely on people being honest and obeying the rules. Unless you think trans people are simply incapable of obeying rules. Do you?

@TFerTrog @sharrond62 @jwhitey98 Yeah, have you ever volunteered for a parkrun? The barcode doesn’t have sex on it and I really don’t have time to check when there are 800+ runners to get through. At the end of the day it’s a fun run designed to get people active.

@luptonn @sharrond62 @jwhitey98 Generally speaking, with your eyes, using the same secondary sex characteristics that we all recognise as belonging to a male or female person, hip width and angles, shoulder width, hand size, face shape etc. If you ask them and they get aggressive, it's most likely they're male

@jwhitey98 Simply log yourself as the sex you are, it’s not hard. Yet males keep on ruining it for females! Total male entitlement. There’s even a ‘prefer not to say’ stop stealing stuff that belongs to females.

@DuncanStott @albiondumsday @LoftusSteve I was responding to the “no antisocial effects whatsoever” comment. The indoor smoking ban was an instrumental public health intervention and I suspect if it were suggested today people like Steve would object

Bikes are objectively inferior transportation by every metric. Slow, minimal carrying capacity. Can't carry passengers. Exposed to the elements, the rain, snow, sleet, heat, and cold. It's awful. Incapable of practical regional access.
