@GhillieYT I think we have atleast a couple years till we need next gen consoles. Current gen consoles are powerful enough and games already look amazing. Stop pushing graphics even further and simply make more good games until the prices eventually and hopefully settle down.

Something HAS to change in the next few years man. These console prices are NOT AT ALL sustainable. If the PS6 and next Xbox are over $1000 then the consoles wont sell, and the games wont sell because of the inability to sell the console needed to play said games. The whole business of a console is to sell at a loss and recover the losses from subscriptions and game revenue from their own first party digital stores. If most people are priced out of consoles, everything fails. This is terrible.

@ffiltaa @GameRoll_ Separate editions have always been bad. But it's been a thing for a decade+ and won't stop. You can't be pissed at R* for not taking the moral high ground. Regarding what's actually locked, I'd say that $20 finally holds value, while not taking anything imp. away from base game.

Replies to this are incredible. History has literally repeated itself. GTA 6’s Ultimate Edition is nothing new and will not “doom the industry” lmao. The “paywalled” shops are tiny compared to the scale of the full game, and the side missions has been done before.

@PaulTassi I mean they're all convinced that it's the next frontier for humanity. They are looking far ahead and see crazy things that we'd call fiction. It's obvious why they're pushing so hard. I'm not saying it's right but it is THE revolution. We've stagnated for a while.

@Jon45x @GameRoll_ It's genuinely baffling to me no matter how much I try to reason about it. You have this HUGE game with possibly the biggest content in existence and something you'd play for years on end, and you ignore all of it and complain about the few bonus items.

@m4jim4 @GameRoll_ Exactly! Also: its not like the bonuses are super crazy required to enjoy the game (like realistically are these old cars you get really the main thing to look forward?!). So just some additions for people who are willing to spend $20 extra - and for that the value is great!

My take on Rockstar locking a few stores/some customisation behind the Ultimate Edition is a bit complicated. First of all, the idea of doing this is nothing new. They did the exact same thing with RDR2, where an entire bank robbery mission was locked behind the Ultimate Edition. It’s still not great, but it’s not this new prospect that’ll doom the industry. As for the VOLUME of content that’s locked, I think that it’s more of a testament to how much is in the base game. If they’re putting this much into the Ultimate Edition bonuses then it’s clear that the standard edition is packed too.

It's like you already get 20 stores/shops/cars in the base game and you're complaining about the extra 2. But if people spend $20 extra and unfairly get less value, no one bats an eye

My take on the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is that pretending to be mad about a couple vehicles and cosmetics in a deluxe edition is peak performative outrage. This is a standard thing in almost every game coming out, Cosmetics & bonus side activity for deluxe editions is normal and was even in Red Dead 2. What I DO find problematic is locking actual stores and modshops, this just feels like a super odd way to approach how these bonuses work, I’d much prefer if these locations were still accessible and only the exclusive items weren’t sold there if you don’t own the Ultimate Edition. Its going to be weird to walk up to these stores and have them just be locked because you don’t own the right edition.

'customization' is the functionality which OBVIOUSLY exists in the base game. tons of car 'customizations' are also in the base game. a few BONUS 'customizations' are locked, which is STANDARD. bad faith misinformation is CRAZY.
