@del_abbot @DeepDishEnjoyer Well known we’re moving significant manpower and military assets to the region. Oh yeah and we said we’d destroy them. Not sure what element of surprise you’re talking about.

@DeepDishEnjoyer Why would Trump announce an invasion and lose the element of surprise? He bypassed Congress, similarly he doesn't care what the public thinks

this is again just vibes but my honest guess as to why he's doing the presser late at night tomorrow as opposed to thursday, before market holiday, is because announcing christian boys are on the ground in the middle east hours before good friday will not play well with the base

Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.

US / Israel and Jordan have lost early warning radar after Thaad systems were taken out by Iran in Jordan, UAE and Saudi. Sirens are no longer going off in Jordan. Missile strike alerts in Israel are down to 2-3 minutes.

@chrisvirnig @binarybits @TheStalwart See where you're coming from, but there are structural things that keep fees high - otherwise we wouldn't be so well above the rest of the world in commissions/fees charged. It's not that Americans are dumber, it's that a cartel runs real estate here.

The Citrini essay includes a paragraph about an industry I know something about. Redfin tried to do this exact business model (bare-bones buy-side agent who rebates 2/3 of the 3% fee) and consumers hated it. I see no reason to think an AI version will work better.

@binarybits @TheStalwart True - but I do a lot of things without having someone physically next to me to help guide that decision. It's not unthinkable that there's a good portion of the market that moves to a lower cost option if available. But to your point, there will be many that still want that.

@binarybits @TheStalwart Yeah it's not that the AI version will make it better - they can just do the same thing for almost no fee at all.

@m7madden @TheStalwart Sure I'm not saying it's a good system, just that it's proven hard to disrupt and it's not obvious how AI helps.

Based on recent reports from sources like Reuters, CNN, and Al Jazeera, the key points in the update appear accurate: US air defense deployments, Iranian ship seizures and boarding attempt (thwarted), drone shootdown by F-35, US recon flights, and upcoming Oman talks (with some dispute on agenda scope). Details may evolve.

Iran Situational Update: -US increased tempo of airlift largely, 24 hour base operations in Germany to aid this, mainly air defences delivered, THAAD and Patriot systems and other infrastructure for strikes. -Iran seized two ships in the Persian Gulf and attempted to board a US ship with gunboats and drones, was stopped by US naval escort. -Iranian drones continue flights around the Gulf of Oman flying very close to carrier strike group, one Shahed 139 drone was shot down by an F-35 after getting too close to Carrier. -US reconnaissance MQ-4C drone and P8 Poseidon aircraft continue runs around Persian Gulf, interestingly flew more south over the Gulf of Oman likely looking for Iranian Submarines and Drones. -Talks to take place in Oman on Friday, despite uncertainty although Iran continues to refuse to discuss proxy or missile stockpiles so unlikely negotiation success as US has set these as red lines.

Bears 1st team offense responds in red zone 11 on 11s! Back to back touchdowns from Caleb Williams to Rome Odunze. The first TD was a beauty. Rome comes across the back of the end zone from the right and comes wide open as the protection was perfect. Braxton in at LT. 2nd touchdown was a quick out to the left and Rome rolls in for the confirmed TD.

You gotta remember though. In this specific office, a bunch of Fed Gov's got bumped out last admin for trading treasuries. Hence, maybe less so for the Fed. Those guys should have cleaned it up between 2021 and now. And btw, I think those guys were Republicans and they were also crooks. But to their credit, they all resigned rather than turn it into a circus. Also, insider trading isn't yet illegal. I likely should be, but that law struggles to pass. (does that help?)

I get why Lisa Cook's mortgage issue doesn't seem like a big deal to most Democrats. I mean, after all, it's not like she's making over $20m a year from it like Nancy Pelosi. It's a fair point.

@marketswithmay Agree with you here. But not just her - a ton of people have done it. That’s what I mean by selective enforcement. Trump has been convicted of falsifying business records, so by his own logic, he should resign. Where is the outcry for that (it’s many more counts and the POTUS)?

That's also what I'm monitoring. If the committee saw it and ignored it they are all super guilty when they hired her. That's the newest thing that came out last night. The committee - I believe - has both Republicans and Democrats. They are both a$$holes if they confirmed her and she had this at the time of confirmation.

@marketswithmay See your point, but I think it’s a bit of a stretch. But we live in a world where we have to choose between lesser evils, and this is pretty low on the evil scale. And seriously, why weren’t they monitoring this before? Selectively enforcing laws is the greater evil here.

Wow. You think mortgage fraud is like breaking the speed limit. ok. Interesting. Who was hurt? When folks do this they drive the price of homes up. They increase the over all risk pool of FNM and FRE. They also reduce the amount of lending that is available to common folk. So mostly, these particular laws were created to make sure those specifically with mid to lower incomes had access to lending and housing availability.
