Please retweet, 4 more neglected dogs dumped #CARDIFF #WALES #UK April 2 2026 FOUR BULLDOGS DUMPED IN TERRIBLE CONDITION On Saturday evening last week, four bulldogs were dumped at Cardiff Dogs Home. They were reportedly found tied up by a member of the public, but when put on leads by the kennel staff they were terrified and unable to walk without panicking and choking themselves. We suspect that they have never been on leads or walked outside. We believe that they may be from the same litter, two males and two females, who have been named Jack and Daniel and Pina and Colada. All four of them are suffering from medical conditions that have required vet treatment and need corrective surgery: Jack - cherry eye Daniel - cherry eye Pina - cherry eye, umbilical hernia, skin infection Colada - cleft lip We are lucky to have our onsite Health Centre where our vet will be able to perform the surgeries that these dogs need, but this is still a large unexpected cost. Four stray dogs arriving at once also puts a lot of pressure on the kennel staff at a time where they are already looking after a large number of dogs. On the night that these dogs arrived, the kennels were already at capacity, but space had to be found for them. Two more stray dogs also arrived later that night. To have four dogs arrive in terrible condition at once is a large vet bill for us to cover, but thanks to your support and donations we can continue to fund these life changing surgeries. Our work continues   Meet Winston, retired South Yorkshire Police Dog. @syptweet 🐾 He served 7 incredible years as a Drugs/Cash/Firearms Detection dog, helping recover weapons, millions in criminal cash, and huge quantities of drugs. In 2020 he even won SYP’s Animal of the Year.  After a serious leg injury in 2021, Winston retired and has been enjoying life at home with his handler. Last year he developed a fast‑growing mass on his back. Surgery was the best option for his comfort, and thankfully it’s given him a new lease of life.  His owner has shared these words  ‘Like many retired service dogs, Winston couldn’t be insured due to age and injury, so handlers often face the full cost of care.  The NFRSA stepped in and covered some of the bill. Their support was incredible from start to finish.  If you’re a handler with a retiring dog, register with the NFRSA. And if you can support the charity, please do—they make a huge difference to dogs who’ve given everything in service’

It’s always a proud day for all the puppy walkers but was a particularly emotional day for Di and me having nursed him through his broken leg and then seeing him go on to become a licensed Police dog. He also has the perfect handler in Kenton

At the end of a very entertaining display our teams presented themselves to the crowd for the final time before dispersing. They were then presented with their certificates and photos taken with their puppy walkers family and friends

After completing the Stand off exercise PD Django gave a very good example of why it’s never a good idea to run away from him.

PD Django with Jason gave a fantastic demonstration of the stand off which is where the criminal runs away but then surrenders. PD Django also reminded the criminal not to run again

PD RIP and Andi dealt with a stick attack and then immediately afterwards a gun attack.

Kenton with PD Odi completed the 4 agility exercises ie the 6’ wall, the hurdle, window & long jump before dealing with a violent criminal.

At the end of every Initial course after the dog teams have licensed they always put on a demonstration for the puppy walkers, family & friends. Here is Marie & PD Buddy who have just completed a track around the field & located an offender.

The last time our teams will do their environmental patrols at Sidmouth together now that they have completed their 13 week Initial course and start work in their areas.

TPD Ronnie is becoming quite advanced on his tracking work. After a hard surface track I always make sure the next few tracks are easy & achievable to maintain motivation because it’s quite taxing for a young dog.
